When I've been blown up it has typically been within visual range of space station. There has usually been say two red triangles. (Last time I was shot down it was flying back from a mothership and it was in a mob area, by a known pirate.)
When I wanted to show a socmate space, I was shot down twice by two different "pirates" (well three times but the third time was my own "fault").
One thing that sucks, for me, is that people with higher specs graphic cards, who usually run with higher object detail, see other ships (and places like CP) at a longer distance. Imho, the viewing distance shouldn't be related to *that* - someone who sees "me" arrive at space station ready to take off will see me, and be able to figure out I'm no pk pro, before I've been able to see who's around me. Sure I see tons of triangles of different colors, but that includes for instance parked motherships - and as we know at least one pirate flies with a green triangle.
And, well, as long as I fly in a straight line, a persuer probably can't shoot at me, but if I'm not just aiming for opposite side of map, I will need to make a turn sooner or later and then they'll catch up.
And let's say you start to take off from space station and you see another ship approaching you from the back, how fun is it then to have to log out or something just to hope he will go away. (And when logging in again I'll probably be floating in space, having to respawn my ship, and take off from the middle of the space station parking zone again. Possibly with a teamed pirate as "spy" inside the space station marking me as "team target".)
If MAs objective is to make trading risky, well that's one thing. But the other side of it is that I don't like to get shot in my back. If an area on Calypso is camped by a pk:er
I can use my TP-chip one way or another (either to return to the spot or to completely leave the area at the direction I chose). If a number of "pirates" are camping a space station there is no option to just ignore them. And if a pirate would shoot me down after 15 minutes flying from space station, with some bad luck I have to restart from the same pirate-infested space station again if it happens on "wrong" side of server border.
