I'm fairly new to entropia but I have to express people on daily basis get away with exploiting various types of bugs having us waste peds and time and frustration.
I think it's time Mindark protect their interest and ours to keep this game non exploitable and stop these bugs and ban the ones who used them ![]() (In the picture you can see Muner Black Angels) Untargetable in a pvp zone dragging mobs to ruin rig... |

Why ban people that are playing a video game the way they have found that works for them? People always seem to want to ban others far too darn often around these forums lately.
Instead of banning people, I'd like tor request that if there are exploits that the developers know about(whether planet partners or Mindark itself) that the exploits be removed from the game ASAP! It is a known fact that anyone playing a video game will always typically try to play the game in ways that helps them get the results they want and/or 'win' by however they define the term 'win.' If exploits are helping people unfairly gain advantages, get rid of the exploitability of the virtual universe that lets that happen. In other words, make the programmers actually do some testing and/or coding that will fix the problem areas. If they are not competent enough to do it, employ other coders that can do that. Create a quality control department that handles these sort of issues and gets them handled quickly. If they can't fix the programming code to stop the exploit or bug from happening in less than a week after the bug or problem is reported by more than one support ticket (yes more than one single support ticket, but at least one support ticket (i.e. stop placing priority on support tickets issues that receive the most amount of support tickets and actually work to resolve every issue if there really is an issue, even if the number of tickets on the issue is as low as one or two, so long as the one or two can actually be proven as a true issue/glitch/bug/etc.)), get rid of them in that quality control department and get someone else employed in that department that can do a more competent job. Continue to fire and hire new people until you finally find the right team that can get the job done in a timely manner. I suspect that not doing that up to this point in time is the reason that there are so many exploits and bugs that have been around for so long. Fixing this one little issue would hugely increase customer satisfaction and the perception of the public that the folks running this show actually care about their customers and can be trusted enough that we might want to deposit more in the future instead of wanting to withdraw everything as soon as possible because the team behind the shows doesn't care about the customer enough to fix known problems that give certain individuals an unfair advantage. There should never be any 'exploit' that exists. If there are any, it's a programming bug or problem that should be fixed as priority to all other fixes and/or upgrades and changes on the servers. Any and all resources should go towards fixing these sort of problems as a higher priority than any other type of changes. "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to get permission" is a statement that you guys need to get familiar with. That is the mindset of some people that do the exploiting, etc. The reason that they have that mindset is because the virtual universe (i.e. the servers that the avatars are on, and the systems on those servers, etc.) allow things to happen which might give people behind the avatars certain advantages. If the servers allow it, you cannot and should not ban the people who accidentally or intentionally found the ways to use the 'exploits'... i.e. bugs. You can and should find ways to fix the bugs. Don't hate the sinner. Hate the sin, and find ways to not allow the sin to happen. That's the way real life works and is the way things should work in the virtual world too. If some place irl has a bunch of crime, the cities fix that by putting more cops on the streets in those areas, adding cameras to the areas where those crimes are taking place etc. You can do this sort of stuff in the virtual world by adding more code to watch for the exploits that are known to happen and then writing code to resolve those issues. You have all the information that every avatar does on your servers in various logs, etc. Put the pieces of the puzzle together and fix the problem areas that allow exploits to happen. You can do it. You should do it. Now do it, please. Don't ask for our permission to start this process. Just do it. This is a game. Start treating it as such. Unfortunately, there are always people that will try to cheat in games. Stop trying to ban them for cheating. Fix the game so that the cheats can't happen. Make this the secure environment that you promise it to be in your advertising. http://www.entropiaplatform.com/entr...form/security/ Quote:
If these issues get fixed in a timely manner and the exploits get coded out of existence, the opposite is true. The end user should not be penalized for bad coding on the programmers part.

I may be a little late here, but I see both sides of this argument. Of course exploits and bugs in general (i.e. the awful graphic bugs than render the game almost unplayable at times) need to be rooted out and corrected in a rigorous quality control system that is obviously lacking or seriously malfunctioning at present; that much almost goes without saying. When it comes to the players who exploit them, I don't see it as quite as simple as ban them all or grant automatic amnesty to all. You can't ban people for bumping into bugs that are prevalent enough that the average player can run into fairly frequently just because it happens to benefit them; but at the same time, if you allow people to repeatedly use a bug or a glitch to their advantage, and to the disadvantage of other players-intentionally and with forethought-you invite other players to join in the cheating and create a kind of lawlessness that ruins the very core and playability of the game. This is especially inexcusable in the context of a game that has at its foundation the "Real Cash Economy", when players have hard currency on the line. If someone wanted to be a real dick about it, this could even become a legal issue. Please don't get me wrong, I'm all about lawlessness and chaos; but that lawlessness and chaos should all occur within the physical laws of the alternate universe into which we are putting our "real" (whether or not our government-issued currencies are real is a whole separate philosophical argument) money. If a player wants to rob another player, they should do it with player skill; fake ass cheaters who exploit bugs and glitches intentionally in order to screw over other players without using any actual skill have no place in this or any other game.

Mob training at the rig is a double edged sword...
....sometimes it can be incredibly fun, other times annoying, but is it exploiting a bug I don't think so.
