My system does some of the same things, only that there is talk of a small modification to the system of income to the company of MindArk, in ways I can't disclose at this time, what I can tell you is this, that with my new system you will be better able to keep track of your own investments, maybe not into your avatar, but into your own progress. Sincerely The NN. |

Is your idea basically the same as an insurance company? I.e. you take the deposits from the players and invest it in the stock market hoping to make a big enough return that you can cover any winnings in the game and still keep enough profit aside to run the company and pay wages etc?
This would indeed make it no longer a zero-sum game (so everyone could win provided the investments in the stock market stay positive over the long run and you have enough capital to ride out the dips). If so, it isnt an original idea (Mindark had it already when they wanted to become a bank). I cant see any other way of your game being other than zero-sum and therefore someone HAS to lose $5 in order for someone else to win $5. By the time you've subtracted server costs, staff wages, licencing the game engine, etc, its actually someone HAS to lose $15 in order for someone to win $5 (the other $10 going towards the running of the game)

As far as I understand what NN is trying to say is his game wil only empose tax on actual trade not game activity, that way the game activitys are just there to give ppl access to limited resorces. As there are limited resorces they may be sold for more then there original value, creating gain for the pleyers that sell while also gaining to the game becose to gain you have to trade. I may be wrong but this is how I understand his consept and as I said i rather have small sinks then taxation.
MA uses all three ways of gains, they have sinks, taxes and unbalance in input/output. |
