We have seen blogs about Next Islands staff being let go. Can you confirm officially if Next Island is closed?

They are currently on vacation and I think came back today and mostly likely are working it out. Just today saw this to a question about NI:

Next Island is NOT closed. The team got fired so there will be no new content release in the near future. All existing features and the planet will remain *as is*. David Post, CEO NI, has confirmed this. I thought Mind Ark has too but Im not totally sure here.

The news came through an article of Meg(an) who did the PR for NI dev team. Yes, she got fired too. http://simpsonsparadox.com/2012/07/end-credits.html
