Noob mining questions

Since last hunting loot rebalancing I decided to try mining profession.
So I have some very nooby questions about mining. I would be very happy if someone could explain it.

1. What is average resources respawn time in the same area? If me or another avatar mined the area, after what time is reasonable to mine the same area again?

2. How could I know is someone is allraedy mined the area? (For example, if I got less than 2 hits on first 10 tries, it means that the area in mined already and I should go to another palce)

3. Do high level finders finds only deep resources, or it finds all resources starting from 0 depth?
So is there sometimes reasonable to use lower level finder for areas with non-deep resources? Or the best way is allways use highest level finder which suits with my skills?

Thank you for the answers,
Nikita

Hello Nikita,
Ill try and answer your questions as best as possible. I am not a high level miner although its the main thing i do.

I personally mine a area once a day although from what ive been told you can hit a area 2-3 hrs later.

If your getting less than a 60% hitrate you probably want to move to another area unless the finds that you have gotten are compensating for your drops. Be careful with this though, the more you mine the better your gut feelings will get in this aspect. (as with anything in this game its all about educated guesswork)

Many people use multiple finders/extractors. High level finders can find shallow ores/ens but the main purpose of them is to find the rare deep ore/en. It all depends on what your trying to mine. For more info on this topic though check out Pig PigBenis Hateraid's youtube video:

Another one of his videos you might wanna check out is on the Perception Theory

I hope this helps you out a bit. GL HF

Let me correct some misinformation by the previous poster as I know it to be true. Number one you will NEVER get a 60% unless you go out, drop 3 bombs and get lucky hitting 2 claims. I have an area that I know to produce exceptional returns and hit rates and I have never had more than 35% hitrate there.

One thing you want to look for in mining is hitrate yes but between 30-35% is an outstanding number. For lower skilled miners 25-30% is pretty darn good. Playing with different finders could help you with effectiveness in fields. That is something you will have to experiment in.

Now for Pigbenis' video stream. I personally do not know much about his stream however I do know about the man. He has been around for as long as I have and has more recent amped experience than I do for sure. He is a knowledgeable miner but I personally think he does not have a lot of unamped experience to gain knowledge about that level of mining. I think if you were wanting to run medium sized amps then go watch him! But if you wanted to learn more about the mechanics of mining then go watch someone else.

Any other questions and dont be afraid to ask.

I have been watching PigBenis Hateraid YouTube movies and I can certainly recommend them. Besides being a very aimable person, I had the luck on meeting him a couple of times, he is also awesome for the fact he is sharing his mining knowledge. On occasion he even runs some type of contest giving away some awesome prizes. You still have to do the learning yourself but he shows some good directions.

Not being a very experienced miner there is a rule that is same for any profession that also applies for mining. It's a very simple one: do large numbers. I heard once an advise from an experienced miner: don't go amped when your not experienced and start at least with 500 PED probes to build up your bank roll. Have patience with selling your ores and enmatters with decent MU and look for ores and enmatters with decent MU. As far as I know some planets have (wiki)maps with sections where what can be mined.

Good luck out there! Roni
