Mind essence worth less than its component parts?

I've not been playing for over 2 years until today and I was wondering why the 17K of mind essence in my storage is worth a lot less today than 2 years ago.

I can see vehicles removed the need for teleporting now but to make mind essence the force nexus costs are far greater than the final mind essence worth.

Am I missing something? Are people still making ME these days for selling (at a great loss) or is the stuff on auction left over stuff like my 17K from long ago.

Perhaps my calculations are all wrong! As I see it, to make 17K of ME I would need something like 20PEDs of materials (force nexus and sweat) and then the 17K of mind essence is worth 2 PED in todays market, is that correct?!?

ME changed back when ammo changed. A few years ago 1 sweat plus FN made 1 ME. Now 1 sweat plus 1 FN makes 100 ME. I have not looked at the price of sweat and FN lately but imagine that the sellers are not losing money on it.

Edit: Also when this changed the amounts of ME that everyone had also changed If I would have had 1 ME in my locker with a value of 1 pec before the VU I had 100 ME in my locker with a value of 1 pec after the VU.

Your calculations are off. However, I would agreeing general, that ME is generally not profitable to make. If you gather your own sweat, you can sell it at a small profit. If you buy your sweat at 3 ped per k, I doubt you will make a profit on ME.

Ah! That explains where the 17K of ME came from then. I couldn't remember having that much in storage so it was originally just 170 ME hence why its worth so little today. In reality, 2 years ago I had 170 ME which was also worth very little.

Yes, I was assuming that 1 sweat + 1 force nexus = 1 M.E hence (rather than 100 M.E.)
