    hey there!

really want to try this game out but got a few questions first that i really wanna know before i start downloading

1: Is there anything in the game you can ONLY obtain by buying stuff with real money? (doesnt matter if it would take months of playing to get it whitout spending money)

    thats all

    thx in advance.

You can obtain any item ingame without a single deposit, but it aint always easy

Everything does have a real life value though, since PED = USD, but I guess that you mean "without putting any real money into the game", aka "without depositing"

Anything and everything ingame (including skills) can be purchased with the ingame currency, PEDs.

PEDs can be obtained thru depositing, or as a result of ingame activities.

These can include 'sweating' (ie slowly collecting sweat from creatures) or collecting stones and fruits that spawn randomly on the ground. These can then be sold to other players. Once some initial PEDs are earned, you have a wider range of options in 'earning' more. You should read one of the many new player guides here or on planetcalypsoforum.com.

You are never required to deposit. That's always a personal choice.

well, the case is that to have more fun one has to pay more. at least that has always been the official statement (check the clip below) and we have not heard otherwise...

exceptions? yes, there are some. plus, nobody forces anyone to deposit. but one can do so without upper limits... it's like www.zombo.com, the only limit is yourself! =)

Statistically speaking nothing pays off, your nominal returns from hunting, mining and crafting will always be lower long term then what you put in those activities.

It is the markup that makes your game. While this is obvious there are a lot of people who play the game like a casino and don't care much about markup on loot or markup spend. There is nothing wrong about that either as long as those people enjoy their gameplay.

In any case it is so that because of those people and their deposits you can play for free if you want, if you are smart enough, persistent enough and disciplined enough. It is hard, very hard at times, but who would want to play an easy game anyway.

To answer your first question though, there are items in game that a non depositer most likely will never possess. At least not by earning it from 'normal' activities like hunting, mining and crafting. Then again there are quite some non depositers who own such top items, in most cases there is an background with trading involved.

No one is forced to deposit to play, proceed and progress. A lot of people are forced to deposit to progress and play at the speed and level they want though.

There are some things that comes explicitly by depositing, what comes into mind is opportunity to get a "free" goldcard - you can buy gold card separately though). (Gold cards are used to protect logins into game using a card reader.) Also, some of the gifts (like christmas gifts) might come from a depositing - though some of them end up in auction so it's possibly to buy them second-hand.

As for *not* being able to be directly purchased is attributes like strength and agility, they need to be skilled up (either directly or through missions). "Health" is an exception it's no attribute by its own but rather is put together by other attributes and skills and thus partially can be "bought" (by buying skills).

To sum it up: As all items excpt a few special ones (like mining claim deeds) are transferable and therefore can be bought from someone who wants to sell them. Skills, except attributes, can be transfered (sold/bought) using "skill implants".

Think of it this way: The money you make doesn't come from nowhere, at some point someone has deposited for it. If you get peds by selling sweat, then (possibly) those peds you get from a sweat trader get it by selling refined mind essence in auction to someone who has deposited for it.

    Hi,

    Short answer: No.

    Long answer:

For sure, you can become an Uber without ever depositing (= "playing the entire game" incl. "end game"). There are ppl that have done this.

Unfortunately, you are a bit late. Quite some years too late. The "windows of opportunity" have been closed since long. You still can make it, but better prepare for mindless grind for literally RL years!

You can sweat, and stone-walk, doing it for a few years, always selling at best rates, you'll get the equivalent to have spent a few hours flipping burgers at your local burger dealer.

A ModFap, basic healing gear for any Uber, essential to play the "entire game", comes for roughly a lifetime of full time sweating and stone walking. Or for flipping burgers for the 18K $ it was sold at last...

Good news: This is not WoW. You are not forced to kill the most big ones for special loot, playing smart can bring you along quite nicely. There's no real "end game" here, the challenge is to find your place in the food chain, and to make the best of it. Being a smart "advanced-nOOb" might pay ways better then to be a "dumb-Uber".

It's up to you. I'd recommend to drop one serious deposit, maybe a half years worth of WoW, to get things going. If you are acting smart, you'll buy a lot of fun for this, and a good start.

Playing w/o depositing will make you leave soon, as long as you are not a very special person, able to grind mindlessly for many, many months.

Hope I could help, have fun!

There are a few things that can categorize you as one of the top.

Owning a mod fap. Be able to heal yourself, or run a service.
Owning a land area. ("Calypso Land-area deed" is a sub-version of this.)
Owning a top-level mindforce chip like resurrection and have skills for it to use it practically.
Owning a mothership - doesn't make you uber by itself, but possibly very cool if you manage it well and you have top accessories and a dedicated crew.
Have a working-set of top-of-the-line gear, where you practically never again will have to look in regular market to keep up. Except, possibly, special cases (for instance if you have a full set of supremacy/carramone, but you strive to get a set of Hazen set for the acid protection).

Pretty much owning some unique item that gives you an unique "edge".

Hunt the "Hussk" mob (and be invited for it - not getting killed by others).

Have "peace" with everyone, who counts, in lootable pvp areas like pvp4.
