If we ask several players, we probably get several type of answers. ![]() For some it is probably more interesting to see what amount the nearest player has, both above and below themselfs. For others, it might be more interesting to see name of those above and below, and for some both value and name are interesting. I guess they could do a list where we have option both on name and skills, maybe even the attributes. Another alternative could be to only show info for those on FL, but I doubt that all info gonna stay among those at FL only thou'.

Would be fine with me such a list, provided there is an option to decline being on the list.
Make it part of the Hall Of Fame, like in many other games. Quote:
![]() No your dead wrong here, buying skills and chipping them in like mad is the result of an ego trip. Would call it the ‘Wanna-be-uber-in-one-day.’ trip. But that is the choice of that person. ![]() To me a person is more passionate about the game, when he/she logs in everyday. Plans his/her hunts or mining trips careful using all the information he/she can get. Then goes out for hours on end to skill and have fun. I know quite a few people who could have chipped in and ended up in the top societies. But they chose, like me, to skill up naturally. Basically what you saying is, that a guy buying an pile of condoms, must be a good lover. ![]() Or an rich guy buying his Ferrari, is more passionate about the Ferrari then that old guy saving for one for ages and knowing all the ins and outs of the car. |

![]() And in general, the ones who buy lots of skills log in a lot in order to use them. (There are some exceptions of course) |

Part of the difference of opinion here is that the "game" means different things to different players. Some are interested in the journey from newbie to uber and others are interested merely in smashing others with their massive skills. Others like the social aspect, or just like to explore, and for others the "game" is the challenge of making as many peds as they can without depositing a pec. So people who might be equally passionate about the game can have very different modes of play, i.e. chippers or non-chippers, because their passions are for different aspects of the game.

I don't see the difference between buying a huge UL gun and losing PED skilling with it to get skills, and buying a shitload of skills to use a huge gun UL economically.
Skills is just a measure of how much PED you've spent really. A person could play 8 years skilling all day with a small gun and not even have combat sense while another player could be using a mod merc from day one for only a year and have kill strike already unlocked. Both are very passionate because they've found that EU is worth their money. Some are passionate because they enjoy getting by without depositing. Doesn't make anyone better or worse than each other, they just have different goals and different ways of doing things.

I think the issue most people have with equating chipping with passion for the game is alot of us have seen folks spend like mad, chip in tons of skills, and burn out within 3 months.
Yeah, theyre level 30x Engineer. But the pain of dropping 50,000 PED in skill chips and grinding away BPs for no return shoo's them away from the product. It's not that chipping is bad, or skilling up economically is bad. Socializing, chipping, or clawing your way up all accomplish the same goal --- they get you a place within the game society. Many folks however doubt the dedication of folks who lean heavily on chipping, though, because of the high failure rate of this strategy.

It would be just like having the top 50 Society list and your soc has the option to not be listed in it or seen. to me it seems like your wasting your time Kim if your wanting to put a system in place that has the possibility to return false data in some respect. |

That would allow people to be anonymous while still making all positions be correct.
