However, prizes may be awarded as gratitude for winning.. Then technically it would be a contest/event and not gambling. Am i right? (I'm not an expert but this would seem more to me like a competition with a reward)

Pretty much any item that is awarded as prize would have a sizable market value - in other words, possible to cash out on.

There has been one excetion; the competition about the "best" entropia ingame film, where it was likely that the winner had asked friends to vote for him - so the price he got was some kind of small statue without any significant market value.

Uh, What do you think this game is? Its a large roulette wheel with thousands of numbers. Those that deposit get to be put into the better sections of the wheel. You hit a mob and boom you get nice globals.

The more you deposit the higher the globals and the wins opps i mean HOFS.

If you don't deposit, eh your not a serious player you don't need globls or hofs.

It's not that hard to understand. MA will never allow to be labeled as a casino. Why? Cause in most western countries like the USA, Europe and Australia online gambling is strictly forbidden. Because it's a RCE. And which countries are most represented in EU?

e.g.: I live in the Netherlands and here RL casinos are under government directives. Basicly meaning there is only 1 company allowed to run casinos and their books are under control of government officials. Online gambling is strictly forbidden as the government has no tools to control it.

When I started EU I made some aussie friends and they told me their government was seriously considering taking EU off the net because they thought EU appeared to much as a casino. You can imagine how upset my friends were as they had invested heavely. Lucky for them it didn't happen, but it was a close call.

MA was not the only company that made that decision. Linden Labs (Second Life) made the same move. As it is a RCE like EU they had to remove the gambling simply to survive. And SL had a LOT of casinos..it was one of the major bussines around. Many SL investors lost their investments as LL didn't really compensate.

Many still feel like EU is a casino, but I won't enter that discussion.

More like a game of poker, where at the beginning cards from the entire deck was handed out, for instance mod faps and aces like wormhole chip and resurrection chip, and nowdays you either literally have to buy cards if you want to have an "ace" (since the deck long time ago ran out of those). There now also is the chance for high value cards, but while old cards can be put back into your sleeve for next rond, the new cards can't be reused - and for next round you need to be lucky to be given one on your hand, if not you can buy one but if you buy one you have to raise the double amount (ie 150%-200%) for that hand.
And naturally, one player can get two four-of-a-kind in same hand (ie Assassin 150+HL15) while another player on "next" table playing the "Island" cardgame have to stop playing because he just used up is HL15(L) and he risks getting mugged trying to go to the first table to ask if someone there has another one to spare.

The amount you deposit doesn't change your luck alot, unless you put enough money on the table to impress the dealer to give you a next generation ace (or simply putting enough money on the table or even just smiling showing your diamond tooth, causes everyone else to fold, giving you the win of the round). The fact that you got your money from an ATM, from your daytime job paycheck, doesn't impress the delaer more than the money someone got by trading cards or mugging the people who move between tables - for the dealer the money are just chips. Only perk you got by actually buying the chips is a one-time offer of a free ID card, and gifts at holidays which are sweet but doesn't usually give you any advantage at the table.
