VU 9.0 - The long awaited VU
After months of anticipation (and a few photo previews to entice the colonists), VU 9.0 opened yesterday morning. While several controvesial changes were added (see below), new avatar graphics and the arrival of the Banks top the list of new features.
Surely, the new graphics and the avatar creation process were the first things to consider when logging in for the first time. While I liked my old self (even though I hadn't altered my appearance much), the prospect of recreating my avatar with the new features was interesting. However, due to some hardware issues, I had to randomize some things and hope it would work out.
I started in Argus, my logout of the previous day, to see a rather large pyramid where there was open ground before. Now, that's something you don't see everyday: a 12-story structure built overnight. But I knew it was one of the new banks that arrived, so I looked around inside a bit and was pleased with the new look.

The other banks in Port Atlantis (Read about it
here), Twin Peaks and New Oxford, all look quite stunning, from giant glass window structures to a small building that resembles like an opera house. While the actual banking functions are not in place yet, the bank owners will be organizing the layout in the next few days. One bank that did not debut will appear in a later VU.
Other changes include a new coloring system, which enables a small chance that a lesser skilled colorist could work with colors they would not be able to before, and also control of the brightness of coloring job. Also included are new armor parts, foot guards. While not needed for now, these will be in effect for VU 9.1.
While the first day of a new VU often has its bugs and annoyances, one of the things that is making headlines is the fact that clothes and armor decay 2 PEC each time they are equipped. It is very unpopular with hunters and tailors alike, adding uneeded expenses.
A few threads posting before/after pictures (found
here) are interesting for seeing the changes pre and post 9.0.
While it's still only the first day, who knows what great discoveries lie waiting to be found...
