While the recent inclusion of a 2 PEC value deterioration of clothes and armor when equipping was indeed an attempt to minmize client side lag, it was also a step in improving the clothing system and incorporating it into the overall Entropian economy. The visual deterioration also means that, as with other items, clothes will now need to be maintained in good condition to reap their maximum benefits i.e. appearance.
As our universe expands with more and more users, a clothing system that allowed garments to be produced with low condition and have no noticeable difference to garments of high condition, would be an imbalance that would only get bigger the longer it remained. The solution was to allow clothing to deteriorate when used, as they do in reality.
These changes also compliment our future plans to increase participant customization of clothes. Amongst other things participants will be able to apply different materials like wool, leather and latex to customizable garments. This will allow talented tailors to compete in a free market with unique high quality clothing.

1: Footguards:
While putting in footguards might be a cool thing seen in the long run there are 3 general flaws with the way they were implemented imo...
a) It should have been done ages ago (or been given for free to people that already collected full sets during
years...)
b) You should have allowed for an ALOT longer period for people to gather the footguards needed if you really feel this is the way to go (6 months +), the short time we have been given now will make this an orgy for resellers taking advantage of the "rush" since VU 9.1 can be in as short a time as what? 1-2 months? Especially since it seems youre following the usual droppatterns on the armor, i.e. descent drops compared to other parts since footugards are "new", but its still not really like theyre raining from the sky now is it...
c) Especially on "uber armor" there will be an extremely heavy cost to make your set "full" again, just because you spent alot on angel/supremacy or whatever hardly automatically means that youre "rich" and can just spend like 5-15k or more on another single part (not like the "just 2k" i spent on jaguar made me happy since i already spent alot of time hunting, money buying and time searching for parts the first time... oh and btw whats up with event armors? How are PoE going to get their footguards since they cant be looted?)
2: Clothes and armor decay while putting on:
You claim this on realism? "Real" would be clothes decaying from use over time, not from putting them on...
You claim this will make work for tailors in the future? How is that? Most people i know atm consider clothes useless (besides appearance ofc) and are hunting in their underwear (or just not changing clothes at all if armor allows them to stay on...) since paying to change to clothes in town would be stupid as hell from a financial point of view, id say this damages tailors more than benefits them since even when the "shock" of this wears away slowly, and even if a couple of pec doesnt matter all that much to most, then alot of people will just stop using clothes and stay "in armor" while in town on principle...
Also if people have to repair their clothes to full tt that means tailors can charge less markup (or have to repair clothes themselves before selling) both i dont really see as "advantages" for tailors, might be needed for some reason as
MA financials etc im fully aware that the game isnt "free" but an advantage? i dont see it but guess that might change in the future...
If anything maybe require them to be full tt for appearances sake (and for
MA's wallet) but to charge for changing looks?
Like usual im not going to "quit" over a VU, been here for way to long for that, ill just adapt like usual, try to avoid as many "fees" as i can and will probably even stop complaining about this one over time like ive done with most other "dynamics"
MA implemented :p.
But atm i gotta admit im thinking: Some good ideas in the VU, some very nice changes, but like usual pretty shitty info, implementation and explanations...
