I've briefly visited the xfire website linked in the news article, and couple of things caught my attention. At first glance, evidence of Xfire's contribution to this new "team" is conspicuous only in its absence.
The first bit that I noticed was on Xfire's home page. I clicked the link shown below, expecting that I'd see some mention of new partners, sponsored games, etc. I didn't show the results because we're not supposed to mention other games, but I can definitely say that
EU wasn't among the logos shown to the left of the link.

I didn't pay much attention to the missing logo, since I figured maybe those other games payed a premium to be listed there, and I continued exploring the offerings. In the News section, bottom-middle of the page, they had information about a new Clan/Guild (Soc?) system:
Release 1.85
December 10th, 2007--The latest Xfire release includes the official release of the Clans & Guilds system, many more games with the new Xfire In-Game interface, and more. Read on for more details.

I was interested in that offering, since it might be fun to have the ability to coordinate soc events, or chat groups. Unfortunately, the choices available when listing your clan/guild/whatever were missing a key field:

There was no option to list a
society.
My goal in showing/telling this stuff is not to complain, by the way. It's possible that all those things will show up soon, and I'm actually kind of excited about the opportunity to chat with developers as mentioned in the news release.
However, the lack of fanfare on Xfire's part leads me to a rather funny question... I wonder if Xfire knows that they've teamed up with
MA?.
