Ok you were basing your argument mostly on the cost/performance ratio. When I point out to you that your off because your talking about a different card, the 500 price drop is no longer significant? even an eco sli option is wrong according to you, because your out a fur.
I am glad you picked newegg as an example because, if you would have looked a little harder and not picked one of the higher priced 8800gt's as an example you would have seen that you can get
2 8800gt on newegg for 254 $ dollars.
For that matter, the sli pc I am building off newegg from the ground up in January will cost 950 dollars.
3 gig cpu, 2 8800gtcards, 2 gig of ram, case, power, new drives, everything, for less than what you assumed I would pay for cards only. That is value shopping. which is why the wife got a new laptop (before my new pc) - not a fur.
The fact is, that right now, as was posted here at the beginning of this discussion the 8800gt is widely recommend as the best buy for cost/performance. by pairing them you get a pc that will preform close to one of greater cost, and your pc will be a viable gaming solution for a longer period of time.
