I very appreciate that
MA is doing more events now. But I have real problems with what I see:
1.) Mayhem event is a clearly asking for botting or account sharing! Hunting 10 days 24/7 ...
MA might try to identify acc sharers, but they'd need to prove! And as somebody said before, there are ppl that are able to play 21/7 at least for some days; todays chemical magic is really awesome!
2.) Mayhem also brings a big risk of getting players seriously injured, see above. Prizes are high, this will make some ppl completely ignore health. Is
MA really interested in the headlines following such an "accident"?
3.) Really don't know if I'd like to win this mayhem - imagine the impact to your reputation among the community! Remember the guy that trap-HoFed the spider? He did nothing that lot's and lot's of our beloved Ubers haven't done before, but his mistake was not to be Uber but nevertheless hitting big jackpot. The winner of this event will surely be marked "account sharer", "not having life & family" etc.
4.) The date of mayhem event is chosen most unfortunate - who will be able to spent lots of time hunting in the few remaining days of the year that we usually reserve to family? How much anger, frustration and hate in the families of the participants
MA is creating with this bad date?
5.) Again this event (and the January events, too) is one where most ppl just don't need to participate because there's no chance at all to score -
MA could hand over prices to the well known suspects without going through the hassle of thinking out an event ... I'll put an example how this could be done better below.
In my humble opinion these events are meant well, but very poorly executed, causing anger and frustration more then joy and excitement. I'd like to throw in an idea how this could been done better - guess it's wished we'd be constructive?
So here we go; idea for events that would be more fun for more ppl:
- There would be vouchers for this event, every participant would get one (like christmas presents), and they would not be tradeable.
- MA would have created an "event area", be it another isle, a separated area in Eudoria or Amenthera (one of the domes there?), or something like CP or CND. This place wouldn't be accessible at normal times, only reachable via teleporter when an event is ongoing, requiring the voucher.
- The teleport would transport only a certain amount of ppl at given time, so that there would be for instance max. 50 ppl in the event area. We might have to wait to reach event area, but with a long enough duration this should work fine.
- When teleporting all carried items would go to storage instantly, and you'd get provided with a given set of weapons, ammo and armor. This would make all participants equal, and would make RL skills important.
- There could be all kind of competitions, from "slay most mobs with given ammo" over "slay most mobs in given time" to "get most phat loot while in" , PvP orientated ones like "total carnage" to "king of the hill" - possibilities are endless.
- These events could be hold every month, every week, even every day - it could be a steady stream of entertainment for the participants, usually yielding smaller incentives, nice (L) tools for instance. At special occasions there might be better wins, might be possible to have to pay entrance for these - but then, too, it should be assured that all have same chances to win.
Let's go one step ahead - do some high entrance fee events once in a while, with high prices, and show them on the screens all over Calypso ... Oh, guess maybe some of our beloved Ubers would not like to been seen performing without their Uber gear they sold their wife to arabian bordello for ... Well, let's forget - but maybe it would be a nice possibility for well skilled "med ppl" to get some nice piece of gear!
Above mentioned mode of events would, once implemented, give a steady stream of entertainment, fun to ppl and thus PED to
MA. Happy ppl deposit more ... And it would be easily repeatable over and over once the initial work is done.
MA should not forget, IMHO, the other story line pushing events - "Ahh, the egg" is an example how to do not!

PS: Above idea for better events isn't worked out, it's just what came through my mind when I wrote this - for sure there'll be some points where there are flaws, and lots of things that might be improved. Don't hit me for this raw idea - ask
