I am afraid I must agree. English is the universal language for aviation so there is a precedence. Also, non-US countries are more prone to learn english than Americans are prone to learn another language. I lived in Europe for about 7 years and I was very surprised to see that english was learned in every country. Oh well.... there could be another side that I am not seeing.
