Frank, I think I, and most of the EF users browsing this thread, would like to know how participants are being selected. Having hundreds, if not thousands, of users signing up, just to see a few dozen get selected, would most likely create some negative sentiments among those left out.
(I'm not trying to be overly negative, but honestly, this has the potential to create a lot of resentment in the community.)

What I think is a lot worse then some disappointed users,
a random selection makes it quite probable that a big part of the ones actually selected is mostly there for a chance on the price, and won't really ask the really interesting questions...
I'd much rather see a Q&A without any prices given out... And focusing on quality of questions and answers.
Can't really see the point of givning out prices, except maybe that XFire was disappointed with the number of
EU users actually signing up for their product... (Which also explain the bad information about only a few people being selected.. After signing up...)
Underhanded marketing like this really gets on my nerves...
