aaaah yes, the new grace period end limit
a while ago i got a PM from Kress
"did you know that the disciple cant kick the mentor after 20 pts anymore?"
"huh?, most have changed"
like that more or less
indeed the grace period reached to 100 pts in a grad skill (or levels as it was called as well)
while you couldnt get a new mentor once you was inept in prof standing if i recall it right, which was pretty much 20 pts in a grad skill
i wonder of my support case (topics roughly, rise levels to become mentor to grad levels at least, rise the level of grace period to 200 pts at least, rise the level to be able to get mentor to 200 as well, because it is stupid to be able to kick the mentor but not get a new one)
i guess the latter was done partially, the point were you can kick a mentor now is equal to the point where you can't take a new one, which is good
that it is 20 pts is hilarious low though
ah well, the mentor system

i guess i quote one part of the answer to this support case (written 8th april 07, so 1 year ago), which describes it best

We are aware of that the mentor/disciple system is yet not perfect.
|
1 year passed and the whole change was to bring the grade period down, ah well
we are closing in on perfection
oh, i forgot one thing
when the disciple wants to kick the mentor now he gets a question thingie like "really? Yes/No"
before the mentor was kicked instantly (imagine someone who likes to test all the nice funky buttons, since he is curious, say around 50 pts rifle: "ops, kicked mentor, oh, too high skilled to get him again

")
and no, i am not kidding
-----------
anyway, more on topic
the sweat tactic:
personally, and now speaking as hunter
if i get a newbie sweating around me i tend to dislike it, or detest it even
most newbie sweaters have just one thing they care about, ofc, getting sweat
hence they run to (often groups of) mobs, to get their precious 5 sweat bottles, and drag them to me, often the majority if it was a group
which means additional decay for me, either in armor or fap, which is unnecessary
but hey, it doesn't cost the newbie anything and why should be care if i spend more cash in decay for armor/fap as long he gets his 2.5 pec in sweat ^^
and are happy about the nice meat shield they got there
often when the hunter (me in this case) is busy with the first mob(s) then, they run to the next mob to start sweating, pulling that one/group as well
i mean, imagine i shoot the mob before their sweating is finished, they would lose this concentration and sweating phase!
rather don't risk it to and get to a mob which isn't shot at!
in that cases, i tend to start sweating myself, running into groups, and use a bit higher agility to get away from the sweating newbie who can play meat shield then
nothing better to learn manners than being treated the way you treat others i guess
now IF, and only IF, this sweater can behave, and follow some simple rules, like not to run into groups etc. i don't care that much
often enough i even wait til the sweating beam is gone before i kill it (depends on mob and my current HP though

)
---
to the mentor and the jester
before with level 200 or so it was kinda useless to give the newbie the ammo and the weapon to let him skill til the disciple can't kick him anymore
now with the funky 20 pts, thats far easier
10 min hunting and stuck forever

(need to say more what i think about it?)
-------
deposit with ukash was pretty useful
most newbies who talk about depositing and especially disciples i ask if they come from Europe and tell them about ukash
can't hurt to get something for free
-------
it is very nice to read again, and i hope
MA will get some ideas what to change (bet they take the ukash away after i said this

)
besides, why 2 threads? #D

depends
if you just sweated basically and didnt get skills at all really, or just very few, yet
and maybe plan on depositing it might be
if you give all the sweat and stuff you got to someone you can trust (in this case here a soc mate maybe), write a support case to
MA to delete your ava (eula ^^), and make a new one and get a better mentor, why not
but if you got loads of skills already i doubt its worth it
a problem gonna be if you really WANT to start again if you just got a crap mentor and no help at all ingame
most likely you won't and just quit
