Hello all Entropians!
UPDATE!
Due to IRL reasons I wasnt able to organise this as much as i would have liked to. Because of this and the low amount of collected money, I will postpone this until September 1st. I will have time in the summer to make more events.
I can also accept any help organizing stuff for this cause - event promotions etc. If you feel like helping out - give me a PM.
Meanwhile I got to know that one of my RL acquaintances is active in Red Cross Estonia. I'm sure I can ask his advice how to do the donation to RC international correctly.
I have, for some time now, been thinking about how could Entropia be useful to the ones in need. I finally came up with an idea I hope and believe is good. Recently I have seen many starting threads which are about their hunting, mining logs. Thats pretty much the same.
Whats it all about?
24 for the poor is a charity event. Its profits will be donated to Red Cross International on September 1st.
How does it work?
Everyone can participate - hunters, miners, crafters.
Hunters - will choose a mob of their choice and conduct 24 hunts on them, logging the profits or losses. To avoid too much calculation with miniature hunts, a lowest limit of 50 peds ammo (or melee decay) is applied for each hunt. Mobs can be switched during the event, but ll hunts have to cost the same amount throughout the event. There is no maximum limit of ammo or decay.
Miners - 24 mining runs with at least 50 bombs or 100 probes (a ratio of 2 probes for 1 bomb is applied when switching between enmatter and ores). No maximum limit again. Similar rules as in hunting.
Crafters - since crafting costs are a bit harder to plan, a little variation in crafting runs may occur. But still 24 logged crafting runs required.
LA owners - first option is to announce their LA as charity LA and donate 24% of a period's income to this charity.
Second option is to hold profitable charity events in areas, which profits will go to the charity pool. Each tax donation and event held will give one vote.
Events can be held in any event area by anyone to support the cause.
NB! When logging profits/losses market value is preferred both TT and market value are accepted - this is still a charity event and noone is forced to do anything. Still - in logs i would like to see, which values are counted. If a mixture (below 110% tt-ed and over 110% sold on market, for example) is used - so be it.
The runs can be logged simply with one row (hunt 1 - profit 10 peds) or in a more elaborated way. Also - the ongoing logging can be binded with this event.
NB2! If you start a separate thread for your charity logging please add "24" to your thread title - so it would be easier for people to follow.
How will it all end?
Everyone who has finished 24 runs add up their losses and profit. From the total
profit over 24 runs, 24% will go to the charity pool - everything else is your reward for being dedicated. If you don't manage to profit - no donation is required. Everyone who have finished 24 runs (whether in profit or loss) will get one vote for the charity of their choosing. Charities will be defined and added throughout the event, by public suggestions. Finally 5-10 charities will go up for voting. If you manage to complete more than one 24 run cycle - you will get votes accordingly.
How can one start?
Please register yourself in this thread, supplying name, your profession of choice and the run value of your choice. (Mob(s) of choice recommended too)
Q&A
Q: Why 24?
A: Cause 25 would be lame
Q: How do we know you won't take the money for yourself?
A: You don't. I have been in
EU and
EF for over 3 years now, but mostly in the observer status in
EF. In
EU I have been a member of PAC for the most of my playing time. Even so - I am willing to trust the actual collecting and donation activities to another and socially active (and trustworthy) person if required.
I've been thinking about many different possible charities, but decided to go the most well-known way - International Red Cross. In that case, everyone around the globe can relate to it.
All suggestions and modification ideas for this event are GREATLY APPRECIATED. I'm sure this event can be improved with your ideas.
EFD Donations for promotion are welcome!!!
