Longblades are for sure the "cool" choice, but shortblades have 2 advantages over longblades:
At similar dmg/sec, shortblades usually have more attacks/minute, which seems to help interrupting more mob attacks (and therefor results in being hit less) and if you don't want to switch to a smaller "finisher" weapon, it usually happens more often to "overkill" mobs with a longblade....
But heck, i'm using longblades, too!
