LOL, that's funny, Phobia! If they hosted only *nix distributions, freeware, and authorized releases of things, do you think they'd be pursued by the lawyers protecting the copyright of their employers product?
If there aren't piracy issues with a given site, the sharks don't smell blood in the water and therefore, they don't go after said site.
To correct your flawed anaolgy, this is like taking away the guns that have already shot people from their owner. The guns that are kept and used within the boundaries of the law stay safely with their owners... assuming we're talking about a place where it's legal to tote guns in the first place.
