Let me add another piece of data to my post. When I first found fruit (4-5 months ago), I took it to PA and listen to people buying it. Every time I went through PA in the future, I would listen to the buy prices for future fruit finds. Back then , pre stone-age if you will, Most buyers of fruit would pay 0.9-1.0 PEC/fruit. Rarely I would see a buyer at 0.8, and never saw one over 1.0 PEC/fruit. In the past few weeks, The standard buy prices in PA have gone up to 1.0-1.2 PEC/fruit. This isn't just a one day event, but for a few weeks now.
Using simple economics, a price increase should be caused by either an decrease in supply or an increase in demand. Since the only use for fruit that I know of (I admit, still a newb, could be wrong) is to make nutrio bars for feeding pets. Coupled that with the fact I have seen no sudden increase in pet taming, leads me to believe there is a decrease in the supply of fruit. This occured soon after the stones were introduced, which made sense to me.
