first of all, a great idea to test

could be done more often actually, maybe even by MA themselves to see what a newbie has to "endure"

second, thx for the cash

third
from what i have seen at the NAZ lately, on newbie events, and also heard from newer disciples, the current amount "help" is generally amazing or can be at least

when i look back when i started, my mentor quit kinda soon after i joined as well, it wasn't similar to me
no help at stuck outpost, not much info generally

but i wasn't that talkative either

i think you can find pretty much both in EU when you start
a lot of helpful ppl who give you stuff for free, or more important info, or most important friendship

or you face a wall of refusal and partially the feeling of being used

you had both, the latter with the mentor especially, but more of the first

generally, especially the first (days) week will form your decision, either to stay or not

and i doubt you had stayed, when you just had met your mentor and were just based on sweating (except for the experiment maybe)

the 3 problem cases you face as newbie are
-how to get cash, and sweating is atm way to slow to get a useful amount of cash to test anything in a reasonable time
ofc it can be done as long you want and it is a hobby of mine as well, but its a bit harsh for newbies

i don't say "increase the sweat price" here btw, but to give, especially newbies, maybe another option to gather something which can be used elsewhere in crafting for instance

-the lack of information
yes, there is a guide at the MA site, yes there is a forum, yes there are several guides from ppl out of EU including mine

and for "deeper" information that is great, but there should be some explanations about "how to sweat" etc. than just a plain text message

-the mentor system which goes partially with the point above
err, i won't start with it again

those were encountered and shown by you in the first week especially and had most likely made your opinion to stay or not

so a question from me, had you stayed after the first week as a newbie?
you planned to stay right from start, even depositing right from start, which had helped over some problems you faced
and is the quitting rate of around 70-90% of the newbies explainable (wonder if that word exists) with it?

to the general, hm, call it fun of playing (except you see sweating as challenge which several ppl do)

that you found a helpful society so fast, for sure would help any newbie and make the faced problems easier
also that many helpful ppl on the way is impressing

and considering how far you came with the deposit, even a rather small one compared to all the ppl who always complain about an immense cost to play ^^ (the "you waste you want"-method)

you gotta admit that the beacon was a bit too much show off though (kidding )

anyway, i think the whole story showed pretty well the ups and downs newbies face when they start
it showed problems with the systems, it showed an, i guess "amazing" fits again, community, which can make those problems forget

so i guess left to say is a thanks
as well to pinky for doing this test and also for the community
all the ppl named here, and also to the ones not named here and helped countless newbies and make it actually worth to play

the story/experiment was well worth to read, and give an good idea on what you can expect when you start

(my posts tend to get longer lately it seems)
