oh and remember to use firefox when your looking at "other then pe stuff"
Personally I use Norton Antivirus corporate with micro-definitions, it picks up all threats out there, as per rule, every Anti-Viral research lab must submit any newly found viral/malware into an international database now along with any remedy action that they have produced to remove the virus/malware within 24-hours of it being released into their own product.

So your relatively safe with a product from any of the major viral/malware protection product suppliers.

One thing though for those whom are looking to keep on the leading edge of viral/worm/trojan/rootkit/malware protection is to keep an eye out for the lastest product coming onto the market offering auto-protection and removal/quarantine for the above mentioned is a new product developed by SunBelt ... developers of software and application tools for high end corporate solutions, though this will be available in the form of a home user license also is a product endorsed by WindowsServerNews called Vipre Antivirus & AntiSpyware. It is in it's final stages of beta now and is due for release in the near future.

Here is the writeup from WindowsServerNews ..

VIPRE Antivirus + Antispyware Public Beta Invitation

Well, we're getting close. The VIPRE public beta has been released. It's an exciting time for us. Over the last few years, we have been building an all-new security solution. VIPRE Antivirus + Antispyware is a completely new product that combines antispyware, antivirus, anti-rootkit and other technologies into a seamless, tightly-integrated product. With its next-generation technology, VIPRE provides powerful protection against today's highly complex malware threats, without the performance and resource headaches of traditional antivirus products. At VIPRE's core is an antivirus and antispyware detection engine that merges the detection of all types of malware into a single efficient and powerful system.

The new technology was developed exclusively by Sunbelt, without building on older generation antivirus engines. We are looking for Beta testers that are willing to run VIPRE on a machine that's not 'mission critical'. The complete invitation and how to get your hands on this beta sits as the first item in the Server Section. Why Server? Well, this is the same code that will be the agent of VIPRE Enterprise and we'd love your help finding and crushing the remaining bugs!
