If your ever worried someone is connected to your system, a quick
NETSTAT
from the dos prompt will let you know all ports that are open on your machine with active connections to them. Those above mention software firewalls have their limits ofc, you may want to look into a modem/router with a hardware firewall in it. Other than that some simple things you can do to make sure that your basic firewalling is setup is run the tests from ...

Other than that, good luck with the clean install, being violated is always a pain.

PS. Being behind NAT will not save you. As soon as you initiate any peer to peer activity within XFire or other program, ie. Voice chat, File Transfer, messaging, skype voice chat, etc, your IP can easily be sniped

Anyone who has done a basic Microsoft Administration course has the knowledge of how to do this and access your machine if you have not got it secured.
