Isn't it strange how an in-game effect that never really existed with the human eye became one of the most commonplace 3D lighting effects in practically every game after Quake 3?

i've thought that myself for many years but never really spoke up to anyone about it - strange indeed (although i must admit that without my glasses, i get a similar type of effect when i look at stars; in addition, i've never stared at the sun

)
