Siege planet.

Have a planet under constant siege from various factions robots, humans, aliens, and inter-dimensional beings. Have that planet contain a something so valuable that each faction constantly throws its resources into getting it.

Have this planet shrouded in electromagnetic storms that make teleportation limited with only certain windows opening and closing intermittently. When the window opens its a mad dash to TP planet side and defend your areas while acquiring the resource. Once you are killed you cannot TP back to the planet until the next window opens.

In between the TP windows opening, the factions engage in massive space battles with everything from fighters to capital ships to gain prime locations in space where TP windows open the widest allowing more equipment and personnel to TP planet side.

Make the planet Dark gritty and dirty with violent volcanic eruptions and quakes all amongst the ruins of an ancient city(s) were alien artifacts occasionally are uprooted from all the seismic activity.

Did I mention the native inhabitants? Ohh yes anything born into this chaos would be mean, tough, opportunistic, and maybe a bit derranged.

Participants in this system would be on constant watch for other participants as well since its all PVP.

So if you are not working for position on the planet you are working towards it in space. Those who last the longest on the planet open themselves up to greater rewards and claim stakes.

Due to the seismic activity from this planet it constantly hurls chunks of material into space which can be claimed and mined but everything else in the system prizes these asteroids as well and only a few make it back to base ships to store their bounty.
