In no particular order:
- Put in a "create a quest" system, with options like gathering resources, hunting things, escorting someone etc, as an addon to the event system.

Your Opening paragraph is an excellent idea! I think
MA would benefit greatly if they had as system that always gave loot but raised the decay like you said. It could drop the frustration level a bit.
And I especially like the Quest addition. I've played other games with systems akin to your quest suggestion and they seemed to be popular functions.
