They can tell what keystrokes have been entered in that session. If they see a constant stream of mouse clicks and "r" keys then I think they will have a winner. They have used this in the past to detected and ban botters but only after being tipped off...
MA really doesn't want to invest the time into pro actively investigating botters.. they only do it if there are enough screams about it.
