There are so many different scenarios and personal experiences we remember. We all have our individual code of morals/ethics to abide by and different ways of interpreting rules.
This argument (and it will always be an argument) will never have a happy ending.
However, most times when there is a genuine accidental KS, a simple apology is usually enough to defuse the situation.
Rule one: During events the rules are a little looser.
Rule two: Do unto others as you would have them do to you, etc.
Rule three: 10% of every population are arseholes.
