This works well.
Just have the item be something that gets looted from a pvp looted zone though.
See in this way. If some one steals teh flag form their judge. Then anyone who kills the theif gets the flag bakc and can give it back to their judge.
the contestents woudl have to be honrable though and give back the players bullets or whatever can be looted. Having never been in pvp where oyu can be looted I don't know what can be taken. So if you see problems in this think on those. but this woudl be the best way to run the game.
Or as suggested a hostage scenario. If the hostage gets killed then it automatically returns to the hostage hold area where it started from. The hostage can eitherhave armor or not depend son how you play it.
You could take the example from counter strike and give the hostage low armor and a limited hand gun they can fight back with.
