Bank Licenses Sold!

Bank Licenses sold on public Auction

On May 3, 2007, five Banking Licenses were set to sell to the highest bidder on the Entropia public auction. While the last few weeks on auction had little activity, today proved high adrenaline for both the buyers and spectators.

When the dust settled, over 4 million PED had been paid for the five licenses, the largest single-day auction held in the history of Entropia Universe.

I logged in early this morning with about 20 minutes left on the licenses and headed for the Port Atlantis Mall Auction area. There was already a crowd around the auctioneer, with chat buzzing in anticipation of who would win. Indeed the bid wars had begun, with the amounts climbing every minute from 10 to 10,000 PED per bid.

Twenty minutes passed after the expected end time, and all five licenses were still up for grabs. Finally, the first License was sold to 'Yuri iNTellect Efremov' for a bid of 999,000 PED, the second highest bid on an item only to the purchase of Club NEVERDIE. Minutes went by as bidding on the remaining four licenses continued, with 'Jolana Kitty Brice,' 'Jon NEVERDIE Jacobs,' and 'Janus JD D'Arcwire' claiming the next three licenses. NEVERDIE was having fun during his live radio stream, joking "Sorry folks, won't see me in red armor anymore, had to make some sacrifices!"

A full hour passed before the final license was claimed by 'Baroness Anshe Chung' as a fierce bid war ensued between Chung and another avatar. The total amount for the five licenses was a staggering 4,039,610 PED ($403,961 USD). An added stipulation required each of the holders to possess 1 million PED to operate the banks, which brought the total to just over 9 million PED.

Congratulations to the winners, and we look forward to seeing the new banks once the locations and other details have been decided!
