HoF of the Month
Welcome Colonists, to the third installment of HoF of the Month! I'm sure you'll agree, it's been a long month. First there was February. That felt almost like a month itself! Then there was March! And even then, April was still to come! However, never let time be your master I say. The deceptively long month is over, and HoF of the Month is ready and waiting!
There's been quite a few changes in
EU since the last HoF of the Month. There's a new island, with new mobs. There's new items, and particularly a whole host of new (L) items. There have been bigger HoFs with 11,000 PED Atraxes, 7,000 PED Exarosaurs and 10,000 PED Feffoids! Almost any mob in
EU can land you a
serious uber-HoF these days. So, with all these huge HoFs, what does it take to get yourself onto HoF of the Month these days?
Well, we decided to ask Bertha Bot herself to find the answer. Taking over control of the judging panel for the month, Bertha has been slaving through your Hall of Fame posts to find the ones that stand out the most! As usual, any valid post was a potential winner - a big HoF, an unusual achievement, a nice item or even just a colorful global screenshot could win you a place on HoF of the Month! If you
still haven't won then get busy, Month #4 is much shorter than Month #3 I'm led to believe, and the race for the first 100,000 PED hunting HoF is on!
The results of the February-April 2007 HOF of the Month competition are presented below.
No correspondence will be entered into as the decision of the judges is still final. Unfortunately.
First Place and a massive Gratz goes to...Bertha Bot? OMG!
Bertha!!! That's shocking behavior! I thought I could trust you! Well, I'm lost for words. Apologies to the forum, Bertha has now been sacked from HoF of the Month and, as soon as I dig out my 6A plates from storage, I'll be having more than just a serious word with her!
Bertha's explanation is that she felt the massive community effort in voting
EU to the number one spot in the February Game of the Month competition at
mpogd.com was worthy of first place. The effort was led by Zap in
this thread and acquired massive support from the
EF community. We came quite close in the January competition and went on to win the February competition outright. Bertha claims she felt there were too many people involved to hand out a prize to everyone, so she decided to award it to herself for safekeeping on behalf of the community. Hmmm ... well done everybody, but shame on you Bertha!
Second place goes to johan jh hansen for his amazing click at the manufacturing terminal that produced an Elkarr Precision Scope resulting in the largest TT HoF in the history of
EU to date. The record breaking 229,693 PED ATH is documented by johan himself
here and also made it onto the
EF Front Page
here.
Record breaking loot window
Third Place is won by DoctorH on behalf of his ~DS~ soc team. Item loots may be rarer these days, but the good stuff is certainly still dropping. There have been entries into the Hall of Fame forums for all sorts of armors for instance - Jaguar, Angel, even Shadow and Eon, but ~DS~ looted something no one expected to see again! A
119 PED Araneatrox Guardian with a Mod Merc is not something you see every day! Gratz again to ~DS~ for this item, with an estimated market value of 150,000 PED!
Fourth Place goes to Franklon who found a more recent, but equally rare item, and he didn't find it hunting. It popped up in his loot window while out on a mining trip! An unlimited OreAmp OA-102 is certainly worthy of your gratz! As a newer item, it's hard to put a good estimate on the value of this one, but discussion in the
original thread suggests something in the region of 50,000 PED would be a reasonable estimate!
Fifth Place: Of course, the more traditional way to be a successful miner is to find lots of stones. Shackleton takes fifth place after finding over a million Blausariam stones with one bomb! His
40,372 PED HoF put him in the
EU Mining ATH table. To quote another
EF member, OMFG WOOOO GRATZ WAAAH HOLY CRAP!
Sixth Place: Hunting with big (L) guns is all the rage these days, but imagine what it would be like to be able to hunt with a gun that has the same economy as a (L) gun yet can be repaired! Vulcano knows, he found himself the first ever reported official
unlimited Korss H400!
For
Seventh Place we take a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Unionova wins 1000 EFD for posting a rather nice 117 PED Exarosaur Guardian ATH. This one is over three years old, and was possibly a result of the ATH table at the time being extended. The
thread makes an interesting read, and Unionova's
old screenies collection is also worth a look!
Eighth Place: Uber-Mentor Alice wins an eighth place prize for the
remarkable achievement of having had 25 of her disciples complete their training.
Ninth Place: Johhny Ace Fort takes this one on behalf of the Skillin Villains 10-avatar soc-team that set out with the intention to have a bit of fun powerfisting some Prancers and Cornundacaudas and got a little more than they expected when they ran into a
Neconu Old carrying loot worth 1,660 PED, including a FreanD Delta!
And Finally: Well, we've seen some very nice HoFs and some very nice items, but not everyone gets to find the good stuff, and sometimes during a bad run you'll go to any extreme to try to find something. Centech wins the final place this month for deciding in the process of tanking an Atrox Stalker, that he'd maybe be better off if he just killed, um, Centech. No loot on
that occasion for Centech, but he gets 1000 EFD for making us all laugh.
Bonus Prizes: 500 EFD each to jambon and sob who posted the best-looking glowballs I saw during my trawl through the Hall of Fame forums. <cough> I mean the best-looking ones Bertha saw!
jambon's (right) was a nice capture of a global and green skill hof all-in-one. sob's (top of article) was a great sea of swirlies as a 6-player Marauders team took down a HoF-carrying Daspletor Old.
If you capture a screenie you think is better than these - post them in
this thread! More bonus prizes will be available next month, and who knows, you may even make it onto the main HOTM table!
Good luck to everyone in the coming month, and happy hoffing! With the recent changes to the loot distribution, big HoFs are coming thick and fast, so HOTM will return to running every calendar-month.
