Should the PED be devalued?
Three assumptions:
• The recent poll indicated that most players seemed to feel that they were gamers not gamblers – most are interested in loosing a some and having some fun - not making money on the game.
• The cost per-hour of play for your average (not massively skilled or lucky) player seems to be quite high in comparison with other games.
• The churn rate of new players is quite high (a lot seem to leave when they find themselves paying more than they would for other games, therefore don't get to a skill level where they don't have to pay more).
This is ok if
MA would like to stick with a high income per player per hour niche market (in comparison with the other extreme of pile them in and make a small % on each player).
Sooo…I am ‘tentatively’ suggesting that
MA shift the position slightly and devalue the Ped slightly. I am not suggesting a massive change, or a one of ‘big bang’ approach to change. Slow staged devaluation so that the economy could adjust. This would allow us to play for longer (cheaper decay/ cheaper amo/ bombs etc), and would, therefore, retain more players in the game.
MA would still be more expensive than other games for new players, however, not prohibitively so.
MA would still make the same money (lower value per player but larger number of players = the same or increased income stream into the game).
Players experience would improve and the economy would improve (more players in the game would mean that you could sell some of the items we all tt now).
Oh …in the medium term the value of your items wouldn’t decrease…they would just dip a bit (very short term) and then stabilise as the economy adjusted.
Lots of assumptions here, however, I think the basic idea would work. Thoughts please...
