First of all welcome to mining. Secondly you wont get alot of information as to what is where, as most people have labored long and hard to get that data all on their own. Some may give you little tid bits here and there. There is a post on this forum by Seamaster, who gave alot of data.
Upgrade your finder when your ASD is higher on the next finder than your current finder. Some will say max your current finder first, some dont.
There really is no secret that anyone will or can tell you definitively that their way is the way it is. Some use skill gains as clues, some wholeheartedly believe that is hogwash.
I for one pretty much follow skill gains, and have decent success at it, although Im only around 1750 prospecting, so therefore no where near skilled. You at lower skills, may find that following skills gains, just yields more lost bombs. I nor anyone else in this game can tell you definititely. Just follow what works best for you.
Have fun, and dont get discouraged, although Im sure you will, everyone gets that way about this game at one time or another.
