at least this was new to me since im not the hardcore miner.i noticed this when i hit a massive alferix and gained about 80 lvls in mining from 1960 to 2040 thou extracting alferix took me like 20 uses.
so dont try to fool yourself when you get a lyst global with "at least i get some more mining skills"

I don't doubt that this occured for you in this instance. And maybe you noticed it before. But if I pull 50 ped of Lyst compared to 50 ped of gold we are comparing over 100 clicks vs 10 clicks. I would be pretty confident that I would obtain more skill over 100 clicks than 10. Now just need to get a 50 ped gold to prove it.
(I did find a 5 ped gold btw). 1 click no skill. 5 ped in lyst does get me skill. So there is some variation in your point I think.
