1.- Yes, but take a look at the mining section, perhaps the range is only the diameter and you only need to run one time the distance, not double.
2.- Yep, and if you take a look at the gallery, you can see people with 5+ claims in barely the same spot. I remember once to claim 6 resources with double bombing in a row.
