I prefer to think of us a the cosmic equivilant of the tele-marketer.
Some where deep in the cosmos an alien family is sitting down to dinner of fried Bleek Bleek, all the sudden, a transmission comes flying in from those damn earthlings disrupting dinner. That more than anything may get us obliterated.
Can you imagine if someone responded to our signal? Sheesh, we would spam the hell out of them, they would have to develop the earthling spam filter.
I hate tele-marketers and spam, i see no reason to believe that a sentient species would like spam or tele-marketers.....
