EULA/TOS violation

If I were to use an OCR program go save information about my character (location, stats, etc.), would this be in violation of the TOS? I'm not doing this, nor will I even. I'm just having a debate about it on another forum.

Optical Character Recognition... basically, it would read the screen and parse the words on it to see what was the content.

To answer the original post, I don't think so, since NRF (mining program) does this already to get coords, etc. AFAIK, Mindark has never had a problem with that one, so you'd be OK.

But NRF don't interact with EU - to read ava position, you need to press P. that is in violation with EULA I believe (but that EULA is in violation with my country laws anyway).
I believe autoscreen from another coder however does this (never used that tho so I may be wrong).

I'd say that if you were saving the screenshots 1st then processing them, it would be ok.

No, it uses sys date and adds watermark on pic. As my notebook cmos battery is dead I have some globals from 2001 hehehe

It can also send a C and P stroke as if from the keyboard. I believe its creator has checked with MA and they've said Autoscreen doesn't violate the EULA.

Unless a program is supplying inputs to EU, it cannot possibly be deamed to influence the operation of EU. That is what, to the best of my recollection, is forbidden. If it is supplying some sort of inputs like "p" and "c", then you should check with MA. Simply using OCR software to scan screenshots has nothing to do with the operation of EU.

Then you should read up on the eula.. ma dont even allow us to read our own ram.. if we would like to.. that's a no no ma says.

you mean we are not allowed to reverse engineer the program? seems quite unreasonable to me. must've missed that in the eula.
