that is a part of it...but there is a bit more to it with EU. Skills, item inflation, could all be seen as 'investments' rather than expenditures.

You can get "addicted" to training: have several friends who can't stay out of gyms ... How fu..ing social is that??? Sweating like a newly-sucked Exo in a steamy room, full of others just like you, listening to pumped-up techno, realizing one's not gonna get more musclear than this and start eating "russian-pills" ...

Look around you (thats IRL, mates)! Don't diss gaming as a unique issue, if kids wanna do something else, they will ... My son do online activity ALOT, but got girlfriend and hangs with his buddies also. God knows, I rather have him LAN for a weekend (yes, WITH beer, he got the age ..) rather than hang downtown, being a target of IRL reality i.e. crime ...

Saw a preview on a game yesterday, and got struck with the gaming-success compared with other medias:
"This is like looking at 3 action movies at once, sneaking in spooky surroundings with a scream in your throat, meeting the most unpleasent and unexpected opponents, taking hard and intelligent descisions, all from the main-character/directors point of view ..."

You have to admit that's hard to compete with ... if one seeks entertainment!!!

Once again.... you being a gambler (seeing EU through a gamblers eyes i.e. seeing a mob as a ticket, a lucky number that get you prizes via luck alone) does not make any place you walk into a casino. You treat it like a casino, it'll give you back what a casino gives you back.

Why don't you describe your supermarket in the same way? Pretty lights colours, lots of useless stuff, great waste of time, and you end up losing all your money at the cashier :O

Yeah maybe it's only me seeing it since i like to gamble but i don't understand how other can miss it? you pay real life money for the chans to win more real life money but of course this game is much more then that, many can enjoy it without doing any crafting, hunting or mining, and i also enjoy all the other parts, well most of them don't enjoy sweating very much but just like a casino and very different from my supermarket, MA get most of their cash from the gambling part.

Most members of cK never deposited, or deposited very little. They're still playing. I deposit to play, invested in items mostly but I certainly don't feel that I "pay to play", and the skills i gather along the way all have a future use (though some could be classed merely as "fun" skills).

It's not only you who sees it that way, it's everyone with the gambler's visor on :)

I don't deposit to play online poker, i withdraw, am i not gambling when i play online poker?
If most members in ck don't deposit it means they doesn't hunt, mine or craft or that they profit, if they profit it's someone else that have deposit, someone lost his money and they won it.
