Project Entropia mentioned in norwegian newspaper

Norwegian tabloid Dagbladet featured an article today named "From virtual sex to virtual money".

"There is an established truth on the 'net. If there is nothing to do in a internet community, people have sex. If there are stuff to do, people will focus less on sex", sys the american journlist and internetexpert Julian Dibbell.

"Økonomiprofessoren Edward Castronova ved California State University har estimert totalmarked for handel i spill til rundt 12 milliarder, i følge Aftenposten, mens andre anslag ligger på rundt fem milliarder kroner. For noen måneder siden betalte en australier 215 000 kroner for en virtuell tomt på 25 kvaderatmeter på svenske Project Entropia, som blir karakterisert som verdens største handel med en virtuell gjenstand. Project Entropia kaller seg selv et 'massivt virtuelt univers med en virkelig pengeøkonomi'. På de samme nettsidene kan vi lese om tyveriet i skjønnhetssalongen på Exodus Space Station. Tyvene er tatt, men varene har ikke kommet til rett, kan det virtuelle politiet melde."

"Economics professor Edward Castonova at California State University has estimated the total marketshare of games to be around 12 billion (NOK, 1.8 billion dollars), according to norwegian newspaper Aftenposten, while others estimate about 5 billion nok (790 million dollars). A couple of months ago an australian paied 215000 NOK for a virtual estate, approx 25 square meters, on the swedish game Project Entropia, and is characterized as the biggest trade for a virtual item. Project Entropia calls itself a 'a massive virtual universe with real economy'. At the same site [www.project-entropia.com] we can read about theft of beauty-equipment from Exodus Space Station. The thiefes are cought, but the items was not found, claims the virtual police"

I think you are no the right track here, mate. The way I see it, it's because it's a new phenomenon, just like with mp3. After a short while you get bored, and end up with the thing you started with, sex.

This is offtopic..But I dueled 2 Master Bountyhunters at the same time and wacked em both without healing. Gonna start doing fraps movies showing my leetness

But Shadow-Ale are talkign about !!!! in mmo's like irl rapes..which is something I really wonder about..I dont think it can happen unless the MMO has perverted features
