Simple reply to stealing thread

Ya know, I don't see a reason to allow a user to just drop an item on the ground. I do not think it would be hard for MA to code in a small function that says, "When I purchase an item, it has my screen name/account attached to it"

Even If I put it on the ground it still has me screen name/account attached to it, keeping people from picking it up.

The only time it will change screen names/accounts is if I trade or sell through auction.

I think that would be fair. Hence stopping the theft. Same way I can't mine someone else's deed.

When you place an item on the ground there is a warning that tells you others can pick it up. This isn't theft, it's taking what is there.

If you don't want your item taken, simply don't put it on the ground

As mentioned in the other thread, there is no "theft" taking place. When you drop an item on the ground, it is no longer yours. MA makes this very clear with the confirmation warning dialog.

i am not sure about this, but i am lead to believe that if u put ppls names on every item then i think it will create more lag

or at least thats the answer ma gave when we wanted "crafted by XXX" tags on items

But I see your point now. Yes it would creat some lag. But if anything is dropped makes it fair game, then I guess people really shouldn't complain about it then huh?

This is far more complex than that….

Imagine MA implement what u suggest. It would affect the economy BIG time…

The first thing that popps up in my mind is: how do you think Twins and PA would look like…

I for certain would set up a couple of tables and run a viewable market “booth” by placing everything for sale on my tables… a shelf… maybe a sign… or two…
I think twins would turn out to be a nice market place for sure.

Imagine the effect on malls… shopkeepers… etc…
