I know of "another game" that shuts down completly for an hour every day to do upgrades and maintenance.
Every Day!
So yes, it's totaly acceptable the way MA does it.
Some Lag and VU misses aside, they perform flawlessly.

I don't think it's acceptable and I doubt MA do either. They lost business so it hurt them more than us. It's possible that something outside their control caused the problem.

We haven't a clue what happened, and it's likely the guys at MA initially didn't either when it happened...and they had to get it all working again ASAP. I know which end of that I'd rather be on, mine where there was nothing to do but wait.

An unexpected and possibly serious problem fixed in a few hours with no long term damage or loss is pretty decent going and acceptable online in any era.

I'd be much more worried if I had so limited a life that I couldn't find something else to do IRL on a Sunday afternoon for a few hours myself .

I guess noone likes servers down, but personally, I see someone is monitoring the server 24/7

If they go down they are reinstated a.s.a.p.

And so what if they go down once in a weektime. That is more than acceptable. And yeah - when Im in PA or Twin during weekend peak time - Im surprised if PE and Twin servers DONT crash.

maybe it is a problem whit the power supply of the servers. Servers need many power. And if there is a problem whit that maybe they just don't want to take the rick of getting broken servers.

I would rather them take the servers down to correct issues than leaving them up with issues uncorrected. I had many instances where hunting creatures yesterday, and having the inability to loot them.

I do believe that we should be given some kind of warning though..instead of all of us just getting logged out.

yeah completely acceptable.
i'm not experiencing much problems with system crashes.
but if they do seem to happen. it usually only takes a few minutes.
why whine. be happy with the server mainentance

YES, the server feels much often " OLdschooL ! "

the server is only a few kilometers away from me and i think, much often there is even not really loaded with players.
