Unhappy Credit card problems

Hi,
Like a few people here i use my credit card as my point of monetary contact for PE/EU and have done since the day i started "participating". Now, i've not had any problems up to now, as previously i've changed credit card providers (and numbers) and have followed the easy system of activation.

BUT, now i've run into what seems to have become a real problem.

It starts with my card having expired and my provider sending me my new card. The number is the same as previously but the expiry date has obviously changed. Now having removed my old card details from the EU website, i input the new details (same number but different expiry date) and expected to have to go through the same activation method as before.

OH BOY WAS I WRONG!

Hi,

When you are re-registering your credit card, the limit is reset to default (100 USD / 30 days). Your deposits with credit cards during the last 30 days total 600 USD.

After you have re-registered your credit card, you will have to reactivate your credit card in order to have your deposit limit raised from 100 USD per 30 days. We have now raised your initial limit a little, so you should be able to do a small deposit (max. 20 USD) to get your activation code.

Now up till this point, i was quite happy with the response i had from the support department, especially where they agreed with my guess of the problem origin. So like any reasonable person, i expected it to run smoothly and to continue on as before.

I WAS EVEN MORE WRONG THIS TIME.

Hi,

We can raise your deposit limit to a maximum of 30 000 PED/30 days. However, in order to do that we will need a copy of your photo ID and the front of your credit card.

Make sure the fax is of good quality in order for us to see all information clearly. You can fax it to: +46 31 13 60 16. Please remember to state this support ticket number on the fax: 124475. Also, please note that with a manually set limit, you will only be able to make deposits from the deposit section of the web site and not from the in-world Transaction Center.

What the??? obviously not the same support person that handled the last case huh? How does raising my limit, help with activating my card? Did this person even read my case? doesn't seem like it to me, so hence my reply this morning:

If you look at my previous support case (123861), you would see that your people agreed it was a problem with your system seeing the same number (and treating it like an old card) but a new expiry date (and treating it like a new card). The system is failing due to the transaction history of the card number. Hence why I couldn't deposit initially and then could but it provided no activation string.

I shouldn't have to add a new card every time my current cards expires. Do you honestly expect me to get a new credit card number as well every time I want to update my expiry date with you? I certainly haven't had to do this with Amazon.com

Requesting me to send an international fax of my card and ID so that you can increase my limit again does not solve the problem and only costs me time and money that I shouldn't have to spend.

So please, read the case properly and address a constructive reply so we can get this sorted. As previously stated also, this is causing major disruptions to my in world business and having unhelpful replies is only exacerbating the problem .

What I need is to be able to make one 10USD deposit and for your people to GUARANTEE there is an activation string on the transaction report.

So, my question is, has anyone else had problems like this? If so, how difficult was it get it solved?

Personally, i think that the system needs to be looked at. As i said in today's reply, i haven't had these problems with Amazon.com and i use the same card with them. All it took was editing of my details on their website...and I'm sure they handle a bit more money than MA do on a yearly basis.

Please don't think that this is an MA bash thread either as it's not intended to be, i just want to bring to light a problem that I'm sure is easily solved yet seems to be being made excessively difficult for no apparent reason.

Also i would be interested in seeing if I'm not the only person to encounter similar problems.

I dont use credit cards

but that just seems so much... crap...
shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to fix that imo!

I don't use a credit card to deposit. I don't trust them with it. And apart from that, MA support have proven once again how unbelievably inept they are.

I wish support would read these threads, and learn from them. They seem to live in a world all of their own.

This happened to me as well. After discussing it with both MA support and my bank I found out that my bank (and, according to the bank teller, many other MasterCard issuers) had changed the way the receive the merchant message and therefore they couldn't see the activation code anymore.

I also received the response about raising the deposit limit if I sent in copies of ID and card, and so I did. Shortly I was back up on my ordinary deposit limit, just like with an activated card.

if is hard to deposit...i dont want to think on withdrawals.....these things should be a priority for MA...actually these two things give the necesary credibility to the players.People believe in you?then will come to you.Is a marketing law

To me it looks like ou just checked your internet bank to get that info, but if i remember correctly you only get the numer you will need to activate your CC, on paper by regular mail from your bank.

Maybe im wrong but im pretty sure it worked that way when i activated my CC long ago.

i had the same problem here. maybe you need to phone your cc company to get the activation number? i had to do this as i get my cc statements online and they don't show the activation code.

i also have the same problem with paypal, however they won't even send another activation number so i need a new cc with a different number to sort that one out
