Rivals develop planet for EU?

As most of you may know, it was announced at the last games convention that a another games developer who ordinarily would be considered a competitor is developing a planet for EntropiaUniverse?

Who do you think this other games developer is? Do you think they where referring to the chinese, it didn't sound like that to me i'm beginning to wonder as for a little kickback if Crytek themselves are developing a gaming planet for use within EU?

Maybe it's that 'other life' developing another planet for EU already Anshe has picked up the gauntlet in our universe and took the leap across universes.

Recently theres been talk in the news of a company developing software where your avatar will be able to cross over into many different virtual universes?

Personally mid 2008 i think EU's population is going to explode with the advent of cryengine2 i think very exciting times lay ahead of us. (as long as they sort the bloody lag out grrrr)

Theres a lot of speculation what do you guys think the future holds? And who is this mysterious pther company developing a planet?

OH MY GOODNESS, and if there wasnt enuf land for me to mine on calypso, i reckon the developer is from japan, why get a contract from any other nation?
JAPAN rules in computer technology, and if tht is the case say goodbye to frequent laggs.
wow, a new planet aye?? i wonder i wonder i wonder, wot could be the main attraction for thios new planet? is it another planet? or another continent?
Maybe it is a planet hence the new name to the game ENTROPIA UNIVERSE and not PROJECT ENTROPIA.

Here is an interesting little interview I found here. No details of any new partners, but the last sentence in the quote below is quite interesting if another game developer is making their own planet.

While no names have been released or contracts signed, Campbell said a major area of interest for both MindArk and partners, is in brands that already have a significant amount of content to add to the universe.

"Media companies are very interesting because they already have a lot of content and ideas and can really bring something of value to Entropia Universe," explained Campbell. "We're also interested in other types of companies, from banking to building. But maybe a planet would not be the best option for them. Maybe an office on an existing planet would work better."

As deals progress, the business model that MindArk is looking for is based on profit sharing. While in Second Life, companies make an initial purchase and then pay rent on their islands, MindArk wants to give away Entropia planets as long as the partner will provide value to the universe as a whole.

Partners will then be largely responsible for their own planets.

I guess the whole planet will be taxed (profit goes to the the "game company" that buys the planet).

Or it could be the EA games planet, with challange everyday...

They will fill it with crysis aliens and BF2 vehicles, use SimCity 4 to build their cities, mine tiberium stone/ingot, and build houses like "the sims"?

hehehe something like that... Wouldnt bee that odd... maybe MA bought the Cryengine in trade for a Planet...

And btw. I bought Crysis yesterday and I must say, the engine sucks balls (yes I have a great computer and can play in in high quality).

This sounds great and all. but if they introducing these bigger companys ingame is tht throwing buisness off for us? it will be like Tesco, taking over the uk, al the little shops get nout so they have to drop prices to get the competition level,,like the prices havet already dropped. In another propective atleast there will be more need for ores etc, the crafting will blast off like the body sculpting last VU. The prices of ores might just get BACK UP!!
