EBN News Archive

Here is as complete a collection of EBN News reports I could come up with. There may be some missing reports because MA often deleted the old reports shortly after posting them and some never got archived.

If anyone happens to have EBN News that is not listed here, post it and I will add it in at the appropriate date. We only want Official EBN News posted by MA on the client loader or their website (preferably with the date). If you have a link or can say where you got the info, that would be helpful as well.

Maybe someone can add this to Entropedia. It could go along with the History of Calypso in the Guides section, unless there is a better place for it.

Creature mating habits
13 Oct 2004

The creatures on Calypso got so excited with the new VU they started mating like crazy. The Calypso Park Ranger Association will now supply a more efficient contraceptive to the species most in heat.

However, the Amethera Animal Growth Group, have successfully pleaded for the removal of such contraceptives on the Amethera continent, meaning the animal population there will surely increase quite a lot in the course of a couple of weeks.

EBN News update
13 Oct 2004

A group of high-ranking Imperial crafters on a surprise visit were viscously attacked by an unknown number of vile creatures while out on a tourist safari. Initial reports indicate they were carrying a limited number of exclusive garments, which weren’t found at the accident site.

Teleporter Update
22 Dec 2004

Colonization of Amethera is now entering the next phase. Temporary teleporter stations have been dropped by the terraform units at strategic locations on the juvenile continent. Due to atmospheric turbulence only one of several teleporter beacons is able to transmit its position to Eudoria residents.

The deployment of the only transmitting beacon on Treasure Island unfortunately awoke the attention of some nasty robots - please aid in fighting these down.

Research Breakthroughs
07 Jan 2005

Sollomate armor research labs reports interesting breakthroughs from the last days of research work. The newly discovered Bear Armor Helmet seems to have splendid semi alloyed plates protecting against a wide variety of weapon types.

Since it was found near the suspected infamous arrival point "Site A", Sollomate assumes the armor piece to be a part of the old and lost "Animal Series Project". Old fragments of research documents indicates such a series indeed was created to make a stand against both robots and mutated animals.

M&J believe this information is an attempt by Sollomate to get free news time and to disturb the wide use of the formidable Nemesis armor.

New findings on Eudoria!
23 Feb 2005

Imperial Prospector Magistrate Kemal Mordechai today told EBN in a breaking news segment, that several new findings of the much sought-after energy matter Force Nexus have been discovered. With the help of large-scale surveying from the EXODUS space station, readings in the thermal layer on the continent of Eudoria have shown large concentration of this material needed to mould Mind Essence.

“Mind Essence is a known rare ingredient in the utilization of Mindforce”, IPM Mordechai explaines for EBN’s Axly McBride. He continues, “With these new findings, we can expect a steady supply of Force Nexus for a foreseeable future. The main problem right now is to get personnel ready, as the findings have been discovered in a toxic area. But I have full confidence that the brave people of Calypso will aid the Empire in the extraction of the resources”.

EBN REPORT: Famous billionaire killed on Calypso
30 Mar 2005

Eccentric Earth collector Amerank Wackt was found dead in the water outside Fort Ithaca. The party of seventeen people seems to have been ambushed and their DNA structure corrupted by some alien means. Wackt, famed Earth philanthropist, was on a visit to the Colony to view "its beautiful wildlife".

Some sources claim that Wackt was really on the run, as he was in possession of stolen contraband, a special one-of-a-kind item, designed by the legendary Roman Ram. The item is believed to be a unique weapon of sorts, with performance never before seen. The expected price tag on the item is beyond anything else on Calypso. This strengthens the theory of foul play, as Roman Ram is famed for his fierce temperament.

EBN will follow-up on this report once a statement from the Federal Crime Specialists is available. Stay tuned for more information.

EBN UPDATE: The bizarre billionaire slaying
31 Mar 2005

“The death of Amerank Wackt is strange”, Federal Crime Specialist Tamir Aghalla says. “We have noticed an increase in creature activity around the crime scene, and we are sure that this wasn’t an ordinary beast attack. Our creature behavior specialists confirm this theory as well.”

She continues, “The only traces at the site were smudged wet Atrox tracks leading away inland. We haven’t been able to determine the age of the tracks yet, but the wetness indicates sea movement of some sort.”

According to other sources EBN has spoken to, the Atrox population seems to have increased, almost like being on an amplified development pace. This is alarming news if someone has indeed been altering the DNA of the native Calypso creatures.

Earth authorities have as of yet no official response, but a Federal Investigation Response Emergency Squad is probably coming to Calypso in the near future.

EBN UPDATE: Case of the bizarre billionaire slaying - new info
01 Apr 2005

EBN caught up with the FIRE squad leader, Major Jac Carn, and managed to retrieve some information about the ongoing investigation in the case involving the death of Amerank Wackt.

“Mr. Wackt, an Earth citizen class one, was indeed killed by Calypso wildlife. We believe the attacker to be a band of so called Atrox of a variety of maturity levels. The attackers seem to be afflicted by some sort of mutation though. However, this cannot be seen when casually looking at the creatures.”

As to the collection of items Wackt allegedly carried, Major Carn explained. “Several items were recovered by the Seize and Rescue team first on location. However, one item is still missing, and the rightful owner, a Mr. Ram, is furious about this fact. We believe an Atrox who is lurking around in the wilderness, somewhere on Calypso, has eaten the item. As the time frame from the attack is quite long, the creature could be anywhere – your guess is as good as mine.”

At this time, Major Carn was pulled into a meeting with several other authorities in Hadesheim, Eudoria. If we receive any further updates, we will immediately bring it to the public.

EBN Update: First Unique Item found!
04 Apr 2005

EBN just got hold of a special piece of information! One of the Atrox creatures responsible for the death of billionaire Amerank Wackt has been slain. The triumphant hunter was a member of the White Tigers society, and is known by the name Igor "SWAT" Piv. EBN has yet to receive word from the mighty and persistent hunter, but congratulate him in this endeavour. Early reports state that the finding was the highest valued treasure ever found on Calypso, at a value of 25,000 PED.

Together with this astonishing development, FIRE Squad Major Jac Carn confirms the previous rumor that other pieces of valued and unique items have yet to been found. The items were recorded in a hidden inventory log, and information that EBN have access to corroborate that several items are unaccounted for. Major Carn declined any further comments about the matter, and seemed annoyed by the questions.

EBN News: Operation Scarecrow
20 Apr 2005

Randolph Vemlick responsible for public information at RDI (Research & Development Institute) announces Operation Scarecrow.

To all liable and competent citizens of Calypso! There is a need for brave robot hunters to search out and retrieve robot material for research purpose.

For the past couple of months robot activity on Calypso has changed pattern. Calypso authorities states that large scale attacks on cities have stopped. Only scattered robot activities with a few strange big gatherings have been reported over the last few months.

A colonial investigation team has been sent out to well known robot sites to look for more clues about why the activity has decreased. Clues the team brought back from the expedition were of great concern. According to Randolph Vemlick at RDI, the research department reported strange modifications to old well known robot techniques indicating large development steps in robot evolution rather than stagnation.

This information led to intense activity at RDI. Unfortunately the few robot parts brought back from the expeditions rendered more questions than answers. Calypso authorities are speculating what this means, can it be the silence before the storm or is it just one of the ordinary development steps the robots tend to take continuously?

To solve this mystery and get more conclusive information RDI are organizing a grand scale search called Operation Scarecrow. Scientists at RDI are interested in a few special parts to advance their investigations. See the item list below for items of interest and a reward corresponding to the item.

RDI Clerk Trob Tedser can be found in Atlas Haven, close to the teleporter on a couple of prescheduled occasions, see the time schedule below. Just initiate a trade with Trob, give him the items and the reward will be delivered.

EBN News Update: Operation Scarecrow
23 Apr 2005

The Calypso authorities are pleased to inform that the robot aggressors have been given a hard blow in their advance on humankind. Dedicated and determined colonists have struck down a lot of the robot activity, crippling their presences at some locations.

“The threat remains though, as the machines are yet to teleport in massive numbers to counter the destruction we have caused” Federal Marshal Ragnor LoKrosse says to EBN.

Meanwhile, the RDI is very keen on locating the artifacts needed for examination. The surveillance data received shows several concentrations of robot activity, especially in the remote areas of Amethera and in the Eudora outbacks. RDI is hoping this will bring forth the items needed, to be able to create an effective counter-measure to the ongoing machine attacks.

RDI informs: Operation Scarecrow
25 Apr 2005

The noble efforts of the intrepid hunters have paid off and the RDI is very pleased with the outcome. The latest feedback from the labs is that the quantities of robot artifacts are still too low to make a breakthrough, so RDI urges Calypsonians to continue their conquest of the machines, in order to recover more items.

RDI deems Operation Scarecrow a great success
02 May 2005

RDI clerk Trob Tedser has issued a statement about the robot artifact hunt. He says:

"It is with great joy and respect for the bold hunters I can say that RDI managed to retrieve several hundred artifacts. We at RDI will be busy using the robot technology to create new items that will further aid the Calypso colonists struggle to overcome the constant robot onslaught."

On the question whether RDI is forming a presence on Calypso soil, Tedser explains:

"RDI is currently negotiating with the Federal Empire to allow for a local research facility on Calypso. That would bring a better turn-around both in regards to research and practical tests. Things are looking positive at the moment, but a final decisions is not yet in."

Theft of beauty furniture
01 Jul 2005

The Calypso Law Enforcement Administration today acknowledge a theft in a high-profile beauty parlor onboard the Exodus Space Station. The gang of robbers have been caught but their loot from the theft is still unaccounted for.

"We have seen the scoundrels lurking all over the place" LEA Assistant Makarov says. "Anyone who finds the items may keep them", the owner of the Beauty Parlor says, "as they are considered defiled in the opinion of our customers".

22 Aug 2005

... it sure looks like the one mentioned in the old records. It is inconceivable that the Thoriod kind managed to get hold of this legendary one-of-a-kind item. In any case, this is a genuine threat towards us and we need to locate the wielder and put her or him down, before they have time to organize themselves even more.

VICTORY!
26 Aug 2005

Brave colonist Cedric Dreicc Hafgolf killed the Thorio Warlord and salvaged the one-of-a-kind artifact -- the Unique Legend War Axe -- which is a formidable weapon with a proud history. This means the end of the Thoriod menace and the colonists of Calypso are once again safe. For now...

Foreign object spotted
29 Aug 2005

An Imperial Remote Sensor Unit in the outer rim has detected a large foreign object traveling at high speed. The object's trajectory suggests an 89% probability of impact with Calypso. A spokesman for the Imperial Science Department urges the colonists to remain calm and to not stir up a panic.

Imperial Forces scramble to counter threat
14 Sep 2005

The foreign object previously reported about has been identified as a Class Im-2b meteor and is headed, with a 94.45% probability, towards the western part of Calypso. The expected impact could be deemed "catastrophic" if nothing is done to prevent the incident.

Fortunately, the CDF Captain Jenny Carramone, announced that "the Imperial fleet and the Exodus Space Station will take action to destroy the meteor before it enters critical Calypso proximity."

Argonaut strangeness reported
20 Sep 2005

Scouts report that several Argonaut tribes are on the move and they appear to be a lot more aggressive than before. Some reports suggest that they have witnessed Argonauts performing almost religious rituals towards the sky, but this is unconfirmed.

The Imperial Government issued a public warning about being extra careful around the Argonaut kind.

First attack on meteor a failure!
25 Sep 2005

EBN can report that, despite what the Imperial government claims, the first attempt to destroy the potential planet killer meteor failed. Information that EBN gathered indicates that the fleet dispatched met a vast number of hostile robot forces which were in hiding behind the giant rock. The Imperial fleet, taken by surprise, was summarily destroyed.

One source inside the Imperial Office states that there is a crisis meeting in progress as to how to respond. Talks about an evacuation is on the table, while others want to risk Exodus by launching the entire fighter fleet, leaving Exodus vulnerable to attacks.

On another matter, the native Calypso Argonaut population seems overly passive at the moment, like in waiting...

Planetkiller destroyed!
27 Sep 2005

Calypso celebrates as the Imperial forces managed to destroy the meteor threatening mans first colony! This sudden turn of events took place in utmost secrecy. Apparently, a small, cloaked, unmanned, spacecraft carrying some sort of high-powered, hi-tech, disruptive device succeeded in getting past the robot fleet surrounding the rock. When the device was detonated, the meteor split in a million pieces of rock, dust and debris, which also crippled the robot forces.

Huge pieces of mineral-rich rock will travel through the Calypso atmosphere and hit planet side later today, but the estimated destruction is expected to be minor. The bombardment of rocks will continue for several days, but a lot of the debris will probably be incinerated while moving through the atmosphere, and thus will never hit ground.

Sources close to EBN confirm that the secretive Research & Development Institute ("RDI") had been present right before the launch of the spacecraft from the Exodus. No official statement has yet been made, but the same sources claim that the earlier gathering of robot technology by the intrepid Calypso colonists was an essential key to the success of the meteor destruction.

EBN tried to get in contact with the designated leader for this mission, CDF Captain Jenny Carramone, but she was unavailable for comment.

Meteor debris survey
28 Sep 2005

The destroyed meteor continues to pound Calypso with rocks and debris and is expected to continue for several days to come. The Imperial Survey Bureau has concluded that the majority of the impacts are taking place on the Amethera continent. Studies show the meteor was very mineral rich and also contained several alien materials, not known to humanity before the incident.

Initial analysis indicates that some of the newly found materials seem to affect the Calypso ground in strange ways, some consuming the ore and energy matters therein, while producing high-concentration spots all over the affected areas.

EBN is confident that an interview with department head Talia Makasty from the Imperial Mining Office can be performed by tomorrow.

Dr Makasty Missing
30 Sep 2005

EBN was scheduled to meet with department head Dr. Talia Makasty from the Imperial Mining Office but she failed to make an appearance. No official statement has yet been released about her whereabouts. EBN will investigate this matter further, as rumors about some strange activity surrounding the meteor debris is circulating.

Imperial Mining Office report
06 Oct 2005

The Imperial Mining Office has released their findings concerning the meteor debris impact and consequences. One significant piece of information states that in order to successfully locate and extract rare ore, the person doing so needs to be skilled. Tests show that a lesser skilled person is less likely to find more than the ore commonly associated as common.

Argonaut threat detected
06 Oct 2005

Imperial Scout units have found several Argonaut gatherings at new locations all over Amethera not normally associated with species presence. The large groups appear to form for a short while, then scatter. The gatherings seem to coincide with very mineral rich areas and Imperial Forward Observers have found proof that certain Argonaut individuals are carrying large quantities of ore and energy matter, extracted by the gathering party.

The CDF urges the colonists of Calypso to take precautions and not approach the aggressive native beings unless prepared for a fierce confrontation where the outcome may prove fatal.

There is still no indication why the Argonaut population is performing in this strange fashion.

Imperial Survey Report
19 Oct 2005

The Imperial Survey teams report that the meteor impact still has left severe effects in the Calypso ground. The general level of ore and energy matters is still vastly higher compared to before the meteor debris hit. Dr Smekel of the Survey team AGO-22 says "The impact has altered the geological setup of the planet. The effects will last for a long while yet, and I believe there are several big resources out there, just waiting for a tenacious miner to find it. These are interesting times, indeed."

EBN: RDI Official Missing
04 Nov 2005

One of the leading robot experts, Professor Niels Barton, from RDI is missing. While on a field assignment, Professor Barton went missing, and the rest of the team have no knowledge of his whereabouts. The Calypso Defense Force, Internal Security Section, are on the lookout and any information about Professor Barton is appreciated.

EBN: Breaking News About Professor Barton
17 Nov 2005

The disappearance of Professor Niels Barton has taken a dramatic new turn. A deep-cover source within the Calypso Defense Force, Internal Security Section, has recovered classified surveillance footage of the apparent abduction from a remote drone unit. We wish to warn viewers about the horrific images shown.

What the robot forces want with Prof. Barton is still a mystery. Whether this case has anything to do with the Dr. Makasty situation has yet to be determined.

EBN: Professor Bartons Death Confirmed
12 Jan 2006

After several attempts to revive the remains of Prof. Niels Barton, following a dazed and confused encounter with hostile robot forces, the Imperial Government had to face the fact that the brilliant scientist could not be restored.

The robot forces had managed to infect Professor Barton with some kind of DNA/Soul-disruptor, probably a prototype made by the Professor himself, based on the design. The empire has lost one of its finest. On a stranger note, reports leaked from the rescue team state that when Barton was recovered, he was missing several body parts which have still not been accounted for.

EBN: Atrox Herds Sighted
30 Jan 2006

Imperial Zoological Scouts have reported that large Atrox herds are massing at different locations all over Calypso. Pheromone sensors have picked up high concentrations with readings going off the scale in certain areas. This situation will of course be monitored in future reports from the Entropia Broadcast Network.

EBN: Robot Mobilization!
14 Mar 2006

The Imperial Government today issued a warning to all colonists on Calypso. Agents from the Intelligence Services have reported huge robot forces assembling around the Akbal-Cimi systems. The reports include information about new models utilizing new technologies that allow greater numbers to be teleported to Calypso. The Imperial Government urges all citizens to be extra vigilant when traveling outside the protected outposts on Calypso. Try to move in groups where possible and never travel unarmed. Together again we must face an increased robot threat and secure mankind's future on Calypso.

EBN: Robot Threat Advances
25 Mar 2006

The brave Calypso colonists have reported that a new robot menace has been spotted on the battlefield. Several Drone Elite Units were seen on Amethera, around the Wolverine area. Initial analysis of the wreckage shows a highly sophisticated communication matrix. The problem is that all units have so far been destroyed by the intense combat, but RDI is anxious to get ahold of the new technology, if possible.

EBN: Robots Besiege Calypso
28 Mar 2006

Reports are flooding in to the EBN Offices from intense robot battles being waged at Wolverine Hope. The battle weary colonists trying to hold the position have requested immediate assistance but it seems no relief is in sight. Unofficial Government reactions seem to suggest that parts of Amethera are now considered 'lost'. Further concern has been voiced for Nate Valley, where a considerable robot force also seems to be gathering.

An even more disturbing report also suggests a massive build up of lesser generation robots around the highly populated Fort Ithaca. Miners fleeing back to the outpost have reported encountering killer robot squads murdering mineral and enmatter prospectors, and thereby exerting a choke hold on business and trade at the outpost.

Nervous Government Officials haven't ruled out the use of weapons of mass destruction if the colonists themselves can't repel the mechanical invaders. A department secretary informed us, 'The robots must not be allowed to gain a foothold around Fort Ithaca. Although such weapons would only be used as a last resort, the loss of Fort Ithaca would be a devastating blow to Calypsos colonization.'

EBN: Robot Strength Increasing
31 Mar 2006

EBN is saddened to report that the robot chokehold on Calypso is growing tighter. Relentless waves of massive robot forces continue to attack human outposts, especially Fort Ithaca, which appears to be their main focus of aggression. Imperial recon units have now also reported robot troop buildups in the area around Fort Troy and Camp Echidna, a major assault being immanent. Up to now we've observed attack forces mostly made up of drones, but more and more numbers of Warrior and Trooper class robots are now being reported. Even the dreaded Warlocks have been spotted. An eerie sense of coordination seems to be a new element in this attack.

RDI, the Research Defense Institute, are tightlipped about the desperate situation, but say the colonists have at least found one piece of rare robot technology. Speculation around the supposed finding of the late Professor Barton is also being kept a secret, while colonists once again are left suffering the extreme and reckless violence. Sources within the Government say they are 'worried' about the heavy usage of the revival terminals on Calypso and that this widespread practice may result in power drains or, in the worst case scenario, a collapse of the entire revival system backbone due to the stress. EBN will follow these developments closely and keep the citizens of Calypso informed.

EBN: Robots Overwhelming Calypso!
06 Apr 2006

The situation is dire! EBN reporters have been slain. Robots are everywhere! Commander droids spotted! RDI are pleading with colonists to stand firm! Any rare items found can be exchanged for rewards in the near future. RDI needs the rare items to support this last stand on Calypso. This is not the end, it can't be...

EBN: The Upper Hand?
10 Apr 2006

The last several days have witnessed severe and gruesome fighting all over Calypso. The machine menace has pushed forward to the Jason Center, Atlas Haven and Fort Argus areas. Colonist casualties have been enormous. The Revival Terminal backbone has had extra power rerouted from other vital community systems in order to keep up with the large amount of deaths and resurrections.

Alarmingly, the robots have used Calypso's own teleporter system in order to gain access to the settlements - a deadly ploy observed only once before when the robots were hunting Professor Niels Barton. It seems now, that they were only testing whether that chink in our armor could be exploited later in this full scale attack. If the mechanical forces have hacked into the Imperial Teleportation Grid, something must be done immediately. Several Teleporters have already been considered lost to these marauding forces.

The brave Calypso colonists have valiantly defended the outposts with courage in their hearts, destroying tides of mechanized hordes pushing towards them - one vicious assault wave after another. RDI seems pleased however, about rare and secret robot technology found by several colonists. Could this be part of Imperial plans to turn the robots technology against them? Could this be the final attack of the hostile bots? Could this be fulfillment of Project Entropia?

EBN: Celebration as Calypso Rejoices
10 May 2006

Finally, after bloody resistance to the final horrendous onslaught of machine forces, the threatening robot offensive has diminished. Not being completely wiped out however, the machines are being kept at bay by the brave and resilient colonists. The named robot Warlock, Lord Telleton, withdrew from combat once enough of the secret transmitters had been found by mankind. With the new technology in RDI hands, the colonists of Calypso have gained a foothold on Calypso that the robots will have to fight hard to get back.

RDI is interested in coming in contact with parties who have recovered the rare secret robot transmitters and are offering a special item to those who turn the transmitter over. The RDI official Trob Tedser will be available at Fort Ithaca on the 13th of May at 21:00 MA Time (UTC).

Although this is a gigantic step forward for securing the new world, the robot menace is not yet forgotten. They may have lost the battle, but the war is yet to be won.

New Uber-Armor Discovered
16 May 2006

A new type of armor, which is said to be only given to prominent heroes throughout the war, was given to a few of the warriors fighting in the ongoing robot-threat.

The Armor, fittingly named "The Protector of the Empire", was handed out to five brave fighters in exchange for the rare secret robot transmitters. The robot forces, including Lord Telleton, retreated with the loss of their transmitter. However, the war is yet to be won. Keep your guns rust-free, and enjoy the peace while it lasts, colonists!

EBN: Atrox Alarm
08 Jun 2006

Fort Ithaca is again in the news this week, following the brutal mauling of colonist SirAttack by an Atrox Marauder on the southern outskirts of the settlement last week. With abnormally high pheromone readings reported by Zoological Scouts earlier this year, we asked Professor Nus Magsun from the Zoological Institute if there was any explanation to the sudden appearance of these fierce new beasts.

"The Atrox", explained the Professor "is a truly fascinating animal. While Marauders are a rare sight, I believe they are an excellent indication of the status of the herd's reproductive cycle. Shortly after I arrived on Calypso", he continued "I was lucky enough to be on an expedition in the area just west of where Fort Argus stands today. We had encountered Alphas and Dominants all over the continent for many years, but suddenly we began noticing new larger and more aggressive Atroxes like the Marauders. This was to lead us to one of the greatest discoveries about the Atrox species..."

EBN has contacted all the local authorities on Calypso after this alarming report, and urges all colonists to be on the lookout for these diabolical fore bearers.

EBN: The Bitch Is Back
14 Jun 2006
Following last weeks disturbing news of increased Atrox activity in the northern reaches of Eudoria, and reports of commotion from Fort Ithaca as we speak, EBN feel compelled to reveal the second part of our interview with Prof. Nus Magsun. Shedding light on previously unknown behaviors of the Atrox species, the Professor continued:

"We set out to discover what could have lain behind the surprising appearance of these more aggressive strains of Atrox. As we crossed the mountain range east of the Rogue Plains, we caught sight of the mighty Atrox Queen - a monstrous creature, bigger than anything ever seen. Protected by feral Marauders, we observed the Queen laying one huge egg and a clutch of smaller ones around it. These lesser embryos hatched quickly to form a merciless defensive pack around the Queen and her main egg. The large egg was left to incubate under the Calypsian sun, absorbing radiation that would mutate its genome and spawn a more savage breed of Atrox. This level of evolution in just one generation was completely unprecedented."

It would seem that while the Atrox reproductive cycle is several years in length, its results can be devastating for the natural areas it inhabits, restricting access for other animals and colonists alike. We can only hope that our hardiest hunters can pick up a trail on this Queen and her pack, destroy the egg they protect, and spare Calypso and it's colonists from an even deadlier wilderness.

EBN: Crowning Glory
15 Jun 2006

The continuous appearance of large Atrox herds on the northern plains of Eudoria suggests that the Atrox reproductive cycle is reaching its climax. According to our learned source at the Zoological Institute, we may expect to see hatchlings very soon - a sure sign that the mighty Queen herself is close by and ready to come out and lay her egg.

EBN eagerly awaits the first reports and pictures from the field, and with such large herds of younger and older Atrox hope that Calypso's colonists, old and new, will dust off their Justifiers, take the trail northwards and be part of this adventure.

EBN: Explorer feedback
16 Jun 2006

Members of the Imperial Explorer Department have sent word about their latest endeavor, mapping the Calypso surface. Although communications are constantly failing due to magnetic lag storms one image came through to EBN, which shows a currently pristine area. The Imperial Government expects to have maps and locations set up by the next Version Update.

EBN: Pristine Lands Found
19 Jun 2006

The Imperial Explorers continue to map the vast land areas in the northern reaches of Amethera, with new species of wildlife and flora being catalogued. In order to allow for the smooth expansion of the ever-growing colonist population, the Imperial government has decreed that almost all land areas discovered will be divided into sellable lots as soon as possible. This process should be finalized during the summer.

EBN: Long Live the Desert Rangers
20 Jun 2006

Together with colonists from all over Calyspo, the Atrox Queen was found and destroyed by the Desert Rangers. Although heavy casualties were suffered, the hardy colonist band was upbeat as they peppered the beefy brute into oblivion.

Mossemeez provided us with an on-the-scene report of the Queens demise, informing us that skinning the monster Queen gave very little hide, as her skin had been too badly damaged during the hunt. She did however manage to chew up a few brave colonists before her death, and gutting the creature later revealed several armor pieces including a rare female Shadow helmet. Several wallets were also found in the Queens stomach, with over 100 PEDs being recovered.

What was not found however, was the egg, and until we know for sure that the egg has been found and destroyed we cannot rest. The egg may be lying out there, incubating under Calypso's sun, getting ready to unleash a new breed of Atrox on Calypso.

EBN: Terraforming of the newly discovered land areas
06 Jul 2006

Official statements from the terraforming groups still working on the newly discovered land areas on Amethera state that terraforming will continue throughout the coming months as they continue to develop the vegetation.

This means landowners may experience terraforming changes to their land areas. However, these changes will not affect the animal wildlife.

EBN: Holy Hunkies!
07 Jul 2006

EBN has just received the following picture from colonist Marcus Moody from somewhere deep in the outback. Just when we were starting to feel safe, our worst fears seem to have been realized as we see a group of delighted Feffoids dancing around what appears to be the Atrox Queen's Egg!!

Obviously the Feffoids got their hands on the egg while our brave colonists were fighting off the Queen.

We always knew the Feffoids weren't our greatest friends, but now we know that they're out to make life as hard as possible for us. Are we going to let the dim witted Feffoids try to raise a new pet? Is there anybody out there ready to find the camp and destroy the egg?

EBN: Orbital Omelet?
25 Jul 2006

News of Tzest0s's discovery of the Atrox Egg on a slain Feffoid Warlord has finally reached EBN headquarters. In an effort to find out what best to do with the egg, EBN once again sought the council of Prof. Nus Magsun, only to find no trace of the Professor anywhere. Friends and colleagues are mystified at the Professor's disappearance and a region-wide search has been initiated around New Oxford, where the Professor is said to have kept an apartment.

In a further bizarre twist, it seems the shrewd Tzest0s harbored the egg in his apartment and storage before finally selling it to night club mogul NeverDie for 100,000 PED. The famed egg now constitutes a kooky sideshow for revelers at NeverDie's astral night spot.

With so little information available, and its only possible source missing, we have little idea what to expect from the egg. A Science Team has been dispatched to the Asteroid juke joint to take a small test sample of the egg for further analysis. We all eagerly await their results in the coming weeks and wonder how this egg might affect the course of events on Calypso.

EBN: Eomon-ous!!!
29 Sep 2006

Reports have just arrived to the EBN offices claiming sightings of the rarely seen Eomon creature south-east of Twin Peaks. The massive herbivore is one of the largest creatures ever seen on Calypso and an attraction that usually draws crowds of interested colonists.

Usually thought of as a solitary animal, the reports claim herds of ten or more animals grazing in the area. It must be quite the spectacle.

EBN: Migration
02 Oct 2006

Continued Eomon sightings over the weekend again prompted EBN to seek council with Prof. Nus Magsun from the Zoological Institute. Unfortunately the institute haven't heard from the professor since July this year and reports of the professors whereabouts from the society at large haven't materialized.

What we could ascertain from available documents at the Zoological Institute was that this Eomon migration is in fact an annual occurence with large herds wandering across Eudoria to the crater north of Camp Echidna. Where they spend the rest of the year is still a mystery, but surely has something to do with the crater.

One of the more interesting facts discovered, concerned the high pheromone content of Eomon dung, which increases the maturity levels of other creatures around them. With herds of this size there's sure to be a stinking trail behind them.

EBN hope to have some interesting pictures and reports available during the week as we follow the herds movements across Eudoria.

EBN: Showdown at Echidna
06 Oct 2006

The annual Eomon migration is reaching its climax in and around the crater north of Camp Echidna. After their week-long migration from Twin Peaks, Calypso's finest have gathered to hunt these six legged titans.

The rich Eomon dung has attracted a wide range of mature beasts once thought extinct on the Eudoria continent, and the chaotic scene can be quite humbling as some of Calypso's toughest hunters are trodden on by the massive Eomon. Inside the crater, groups of colonists are already gathering for a woodstock weekend to the sound of woots, faps, laser fire and free dung.

Don't miss your last chance this weekend to see the largest creature on Calypso!

EBN: Parting is such sweet Eomon
09 Oct 2006

As the final group make their way into the crater at Echidna, Calypso bids farewell for now to the mighty Eomon. After an exciting week following the herds journey north from Twin Peaks, many colonists have now shared a rare experience in hunting these massive creatures.

Challenging for even Calypso's best hunters, the Eomon migration drew large crowds of spectators and is sure to do so again.

EBN: Cultural Calamity
03 Nov 2006

Following recent excavations under the Hjorten building in New Oxford, Calypsian residents have been shocked by a report from colonist Renlar Benos of a rather well endowed mutant species bungling around the nether regions of our cultural capital.

"It just won't do!" said Cuggly Barl, minister for culture on Calypso. "What will the neighbors think?". Well, we're not sure what the neighbors will think, but we sure are wondering what our hunters will make of these brutes following recent organ oil finds from other creatures on fair Calypso.

It seems a thorough investigation of the report is necessary and EBN will be heading over to New Oxford this weekend to find out more. We must recommend sensitive and underage colonists to avoid New Oxford this weekend until this moral spill has been cleaned up. Why not head south of Cape Corinth where increased Sabakuma activity is being reported?

EBN: The March on Fury
23 Feb 2007

After their botched attempt to trounce Fort Fury, humiliated Feffoid stragglers withdrew to lick their wounds. Despite the Clan Warlords' attempts to unify Feffoid Clans against their common enemy, Calypso's champions renounced their bid for domination, and sent them running with the fear of Lootius.

Now, while governor Dumpty tries to patch together his fort, rumors arrive of a new Feffoid force building in their camp east of Hadesheim. New roars and rumblings are being reported, suggesting the Feffoids have new courage, new power and a new will to show you how to spell fury! "FFS! Not again.", says the governor, "I'm off."

There's something strange afoot. We wonder what it will look like....

EBN: Urgent, The Infiltrators
7 June 2007

The EBN space station in Calypso's orbit has just a moment ago intercepted a sub-space signal directed at robot forces on Calypso. Although largely undecipherable, the message seems to contain some code and sets of coordinates on Calypso's surface:

.....::1:st:e/a:1808318406=(EudOpen)::....::2:nd:e/a:97273010=(AmeOpen)::.....

The entire message has been passed on to officials at RDI for any assistance they may be able to offer. With recent discoveries of enormous Mining Bots in northern Amethera, we're not quite sure what to expect, but it's bound to be dangerous.

In the mean time EBN are putting a team together to investigate possible sites and hope to be supported by some of Calypso's toughest warriors.

EBN: The Animal Kingdom
17 July 2007

RDI's observatory on the EBN space station now reports three giant migrations beginning on the Eudoria continent. A swelling in numbers is now being observed south of Cape Corinth, east of Port Atlantis and south-east of Twin Peaks. The three locations would seem to suggest something for every level of colonist hunter.

With all the commotion of recent attempts to take over settlements, the appearance of mysterious Rx Units, Mining Bots and more, the only conclusion we can make is that there are surely valuable resources to be found and a surprise or two in store.

EBN: Ouch!
18 July 2007

Apparently EBN and Calypso's colonists weren't the only ones to notice the beginning of three large migrations on Eudoria last night. Suspecting our brave warriors were busy elsewhere, a devastating robot force from Akbal-Cimi descended on one of Calypso's most coveted resources - the oil rig. Rarely seen Big Bulks and Warlocks gave our boys and girls hell before completely taking over the rig shortly before 22:00 UTC. The rig remains under robot control.

Amongst the chaos and splinters, Eomons, Armax and Exarosaurs began their long trek to pastures in north-east Eudoria. EBN will be following them all week and into the weekend as we wait and see what other surprises are in store.

EBN: Associate Relations
23 July 2007

This year's migration sees three species of herbivores now gathered in and around Echidna crater. Whilst our four legged friends munch away in the juicy pastures, scientists from RDI are making there way there to record and examine any phenomenon that may occur during this final evening.

The crater seems to be a huge sensual nexus, emitting electromagnetic pulses out across the Eudorian landscape; hypnotic throbbings that attract the entire animal kingdom to come and visit this ancient bosom...

EBN: Sunset
23 July 2007

After the Echidna crater was visited by many different members of Calypso's wildlife, it seems that the herds are now stabilizing. Eomons continue to dominate the crater, large longtooth Exarosaurs and mature Armax are still gathered around the craters sides, as Calypso's sun begins to set on the yearly migration.

So join the hunters in Echidna crater and see one of Calypso's rarest creatures before the sun rises tomorrow.

EBN: Blackness
24 Nov 2007

The recent appearance of a large black orb west of Minopolis appears to have left Calypso's Official Institutions at a complete loss. Not a single word has been issued to explain the mysterious phenomenon or reassure Calypso's population.

Are we experiencing a rift in the space-time continuum? Why are Argonauts so attracted to this object and do they or the orb itself pose a potential health risk? The questions are endless, and the official news reporting organization, EBN demand that our Imperial Institutions examine this object and report their findings to us the population of Calypso, to us who live and invest in a future on Calypso.

We need these answers today, not tomorrow. Tomorrow could be too late.

I believe that list is complete.

Btw on the EBN News: Operation Scarecrow news item there was also included a time schedule bellow the item list.

Code:
Time Schedule
Date MindArk Time
2005-04-25 06:00-06:30
2005-04-25 14:00-14:30
2005-04-25 22:00-22:30
2005-04-29 06:00-06:30
2005-04-29 14:00-14:30
2005-04-29 22:00-22:30
Also i don't know if you left out the date of the EBN: The Bitch Is Back deliberately or by mistake, but it was on 14 Jun 2006.

Btw i would like to know one thing, what was your source for the New Uber-Armor Discovered news item?

Because i checked your list against a list i have and i am missing that one. My list was built by checking the wayback machine, the current EU website (despite some items there having the wrong dates) plus EF and other forums.

With a quick search i see the text you posted being quoted/written by Skam here at the forum and in another thread at the EU-Chronicle forum by another person.

But i have no confirmation that it was in fact an EBN announcement. I had seen that text before at the EU-Chronicle while crosschecking some stuff with the wayback machine and the EU website News Archive.

But i discarded it as i though it didn't come from MindArk.

Ah, yeah. There was a time schedule. I added it in.

I also added the date to the EBN: The Bitch Is Back. For some reason I didn't have the date, I don't remember why.

As for the New Uber-Armor Discovered I went back and checked my old news archives from the old Client Loader news and I couldn't find it there. I may have also only found it through quotes at various forums as you did. But I'm almost positive it is from MA and not written by a player.

Do you think it was written by someone other than MA, or do you just think it should not be included because it might have appeared somewhere other than the Client Loader or MA website?

I would guess that it was originally reported on the Client Loader but got deleted for some reason, as happened with a few other News Reports.

Thanks for the information.

I just was in doubt if it was a real EBN announcement coming form MA.

I seen it here:
New UberArmor Discovered!
And here:
New Uber-Armor Discovered. - EU Chronicle Forums

The internet archive isn't of good use as you can't find any of the news items between 4-22 May 2006.

So i was in doubt if it was something official or created by the "Miss Reporter" Skam

On another note, i've placed my archive online and slapped on it a bit of styling borrowed from EU's website:
Entropia Universe News

It is a compilation as complete as i could make it, of every item published by MA on what today is the Headline News section (the Support News and dev blog are relatively "recent" additions to the website).

It includes all images, links fixed (many where dead due to many websites changing URL conventions), subpages like contests etc (for those who want to remember, and for those who would like to learn about stuff like the fist LG rules, etc).

Btw it is a work in progress (although i got bored with it and it has been stalled).

I really wish there was an EBN news terminal in Entropia Universe, so you can go and look up past reports.
