Err...pavlik, are you arguing just to agree with me? The bottom line is, MindArk's EU programming doesn't take advantage of modern graphics card features, nor the game engines it's used in the past. Period. It doesn't matter worth a damn if CryEngine2 has a million beautiful new eye-candy features if EU engine doesn't USE them. The onus sure as hell isn't on CRYTEK to get EU to use their features, it's up to MA, right?

As I said, it seems you're debating my posts with the confusing result of agreeing with me.

Dude, I fail to see wtf point you're trying to make. My point was clear from the start. Entropia Universe is currently not taking advantage of graphics features that were present in 7-year-old technology. Exactly WHO should be responsible for programming the game to take advantage of those features is not something I give a damn about.

Probably because the modified engine of EU couldn't run all the features without lag side affect, something which the CryTek Engine may be able to do without lag penalties.

Me too. The only updates to happen to Entropia's eye-candy over the past 2 or 3 years, including the recent bump-mapped pixel-shaded armors (what makes them have the textured and shiny appearance) are:

-Wind.

-Increased vegetation.

To give MA some credit, though, they *have* chosen to update the detail and textures of certain mobs (while leaving most others unchanged and very dated-looking). i.e. Compare the updated Argos, Feffs, and even Hiryuus to unchanged mobs like Faucervix, Atrax, Molisks and most of the others that aren't new.

And of course, lag has to play a factor. But also to be honest, lots of *other* MMO games are taking advantage of the eye-candy, and it's working out quite well...

I'm thinking that whatever has been causing lag has been such an integral part and modification of the original engine that it's why it was easier just to say " it, let's start again."
