Isnt it about time that there was an observed and enforced rule that we keep sales and buying thread geuninely clean. That means not just saying things are too much but also avoiding ramping. this is actually illegal in some financial areas of the real world. just the buyer/seller, actual interested parties bidding or offering, and bumps. no one and nothing else.

i am guilty of popping in a thread or two to make sure the 'actual' market price is at least discussed. i don't take it to the level some do, but i have made my mark.
it is only on items i am interested in, of course, or if i notice a price way above the last sold in-game, or when i suspect dirty reselling. is it my job or obligation to do so? no. but i can't stand sometimes the prices people put out as real. many people assume if it is for sale here it is a 'real' price. plus i feel EF auctions contribute to inflation a great deal as a person bidding doesn't need ped up front to bid. they can say whatever they like to hike the price up. |

I have to agree, I think those types of threads should stay clean, but that would end up being a lot of work for moderators unless the community does its part to obey new rules.
I've seen a lot of threads ruined by people who didn't like the price a person was selling at. People have to be aware of the prices things sell at, just like ingame. Although discussions in sales threads and buying threads can sometimes help, i have seen more negative than positive when it comes to discussions in threads. |

It would be an overwhelming task and unrealistic to expect our volunteer moderators to patrol each and every sales thread. EF is a very busy forum, with thousands of new posts every day. The vast majority of those posts in no way violate the forum rules, and help make EF an enjoyable and informative place to visit.
Members are encouraged to asssist in upholding that mission by making use of the Report Post tool to alert moderators of any post which appears to be in violation of EntropiaForum rules. |

i too have chipped in in the past but bite my tongue now. there is rule 35 which states we are not to hijack sales threads and turn them into price discussions. this seems to be observed, after a fashion, and posts do get deleted presumably if reported. what im saying is that this should be extended to positive comments too.
One thread in particular this week involved a sensible start bid increasing 10k following comments that it was too low. how can it be too low? if the market sees it as too low it will rapidly increase the bids up to the "correct" level. we dont need people cheering on the prices rises, they do enough on their own. |

I must admit I've been guilty of 'interrupting' sale threads myself. Usually it's in response to stupid claims like "This is the most eco armour in the game!" or "You will profit with this BP".
Sometimes it's to do with suspicious bidding, generally anonymous. As an example, look for the current threads selling the unlmited UL2. One has had no interest at a +4k buyout. The other has had 'anonymous bids' (not buy-out) above +4k. I would have to assume that these 'anonymous bids' do not exist. When this kind of malpractice stops, I will stop posting in the sales threads (I don't do it very often anyway). |
