Question: Should HOF threads expire?

When a thread has been seen and gratzed for over 3 months, it should autoclose to prevent being necro'ed and inducing the readers in error.

"ANGEL HARNESS!!!!!" ( 5 months old)

People's first thought will be thinking angel is dropping. Which isn't fair, unless it really is dropping.

This forum is a useful tool to see loots, the place where they happened, and more important, be aware of what's dropping (at least the ones made public).

I believe an autoclose after 1-3 months is useful to prevent clutter, necro's, and keep the information as fresh as possible.

I see, so what if someone posts a HOF for the first time but it was from 4 Months ago, or 10 days or 5 weeks ? (Found the pic finally, never got around to it, etc.)

Should they be allowed to be posted?

I agree with Mega. I don't really think it is a problem. On the other hand I agree that they could be locked so you can look at them and even press the "gratz" button, but not post/bump it.

30days? You could set the time limit longer.
I for one hate old bumped threads, like from 2006 and back, its just so out of date and not interesting at all (unless active ATH's..).

As Mega said, not a real problem, I'd rather see it in General Discussion... Thats annyoing.

Well it would still be a part of the puzzle. Even so, that happens like 1 in 50 threads, so it's not really relevant.

Yeah, that is my take as well. Not sure how one could get anything close to accurate from perusing threads that have no ingame timestamps and can easily be faked.

i think that the Gratz button should remain active indefinitely, but that posting should be disallowed after a certain amount of time

I support the suggestion that all those threads still should be "postable" and that they should remain alive, but that they should be in a sort of archive state which makes them not show up on "new posts" after maybe 3 months? I think that is a good solution.

Hmmm not a bad idea.

Another way could be a feature added into options that let you put limits on what "New Posts" showed up on the "New Posts" page. (If such is possible that is).

It would be akin to the search feature but you could eliminate threads based on original posting date.
