FYI: threadstarters - please tag your threads!

since someone was offended enough by the silliness of a handful of members, very few people have tag posting abilities. and those that do are not (IMO) doing what they can to tag this forum.

in any case, the thread starters NEED to get into the practice of tagging their threads. you can add up to 5 and if you are stuck for options, try to use someone elses general tag that applies to yours.

for example look at those i added for this one:
whine, proper use of tags, forum upgrades, thread tags, new features


perhaps 711 can add a prompt before thread creation asking 'are you sure you want to post without informative tags?'


in any case, my plea is people with the ability to tag, and most importantly thread starters, please tag your threads.

i am not even asking they be proper ( i LOVED the 'silly' but appropiate tags) we just have to use the feature to make it useful.


so get taggin!


p.s. use the 'whine' tag to good effect. coudl you find a few places it works

I know I tag my threads... Most of the time, I don't tend to make many threads

Maybe an explanation in plain english of what tags are and what they are used for would assist?

I usually have tags, but for some reason neomaven or some other mods think its fun to remove them. So I kinda stoped adding tags.

I'd say we have to wait another month. Then everybody is bored with that off-tagging and we all can go back to business again.

If every thread starter generates 5 random tags for every thread they start, it is considerably more useless than if they add no tags at all. Without standard tags, I am not seeing how they will help.

Furthermore, very few threads actually contain information worth searching for. I am pretty sure that unless someone, other than myself, says something truly profound on this thread, I will have no need to see it in my search results.
