Well thats how I use the REP system mainly. I like to give +REPs and nearly never give -REPs, think it can be counted at one hand, how much neg REPs I gave the last 2 years

As i said i dont care, but there are many people with many opinions and if you will send -rep for all posts you dont like then there will be big haoss hehe

The best use of the -rep is to gently let someone know they crossed some line in terms of social behavior. Maybe they went after someone with a personal attack, or otherwise are ignoring the feelings of others. If you just go off on them with a return personal attack, what does that accomplish? But a gentle reminder might encourage them to take a different route next time.

I think that rep system should stay in place. Even if it's not perfect, it's still some way to check who given person is. Maybe it shouldn't influence amount of ingame trust much for example, but we don't have many tools to check who people are. Rep system is one of few, so it is needed.
Personally I gave maybe 2-3 -reps during something like 3 years here and much more +reps. I prefer to post my opinion in a thread, discuss my point of view, than giving useless -rep which serves actually nothing. So far I received something like 2-3 -reps myself, and to be honest, I'm not really bothered by them. I think that I have right to express my opinion, no matter if it's stupid or not. That's what forums are: expressing and exchange of opinions. Reputation system is one of the ways of letting someone to know what you think, and it's pretty ok.

I have got a total of two neg reps, and both, although misguided, was understandable. I tend to speak my mind and exagerate (i have no idea how that is spelled) a lot.

Whether or not the system has a purpose, I don't know. actually I don't even know how to see other peoples rep, but I don't think there's any bad things one could say about the system. It may be pointless, but it certainly works and those who think not, because they get too much bad rep, should probably take a good long look at their own behavior.

Wonder if I'll recieve any bad rep over this post? Well, I'm sure I'll survive.

There is always people abusing a system... and -reping for different opinions just shows lack of brains...

I hardly ever -rep people and when I do then it's cos of intolerance or impoliteness or abuse...

appart from that I see +rep as an encouragement for good posts.

I have a hand full of neg reps but if you do post good stuff your +reps will always prevail... the -reps are from total idiots usual, not even worth -reping back... I ignore them...
